Greiner's message aligns with her investment in NightCap, a scrunchie designed to protect drinks from being tampered with in social settings.

Shark Tank investor Lori Greiner discusses drink safety with NightCap

In her video post on January 24, 2025, Lori Greiner shared important tips for staying safe while drinking in social settings. Greiner highlighted:

"When you're out, if you're drinking at a party, at a bar, social thing, or event, make sure that you're always aware of your glass."

She further emphasized the importance of keeping a drink secure and mentioned NightCap as a useful tool for this purpose. Greiner explained how NightCap, a product that fits over drink glasses, works to prevent drink spiking. She said:

"You can cover your wine glass with it, but then it opens up and then right inside the scrunchie, as you can wear your hair on your wrist, is this protective cover."

She demonstrated in the video how the product is designed to be portable and easy to use, offering a protective cover that can be placed over drinks at parties, bars, or other public events. She further advised:

"Be sure to be careful, watch your drinks, don't take a drink from someone you don't know, don't take a drink from anybody."

Greiner concluded the video by reminding viewers to always get drinks from a trusted source, like a bartender, and to keep an eye on their drinks to avoid unwanted tampering.

Lori Greiner’s support of NightCap began when she invested in the company after its appearance on Shark Tank in season 12, episode 12. The product was pitched by siblings Shirah and Michael Benarde, who introduced NightCap as a solution to prevent drink spiking.

The Benardes explained that NightCap is a portable, reusable drink cover that can be worn as a scrunchie on a wrist, making it easy to carry and deploy when needed. The Benardes requested $60,000 for a 20% stake in their business. After a brief demonstration, Greiner made an immediate offer to invest $60,000 for a 25% stake. She explained that the product resonated deeply with her.

"This needs to be in every woman's hands," Greiner said.

Greiner’s decision to invest in NightCap was reinforced by the product's potential to address a widespread safety concern. She was quick to see the value in a product that could help prevent drink spiking, an issue that has been of increasing concern, particularly in social and nightlife environments.

NightCap’s growth after the Shark Tank appearance

Following their appearance on Shark Tank, NightCap saw significant growth in both sales and recognition. According to Food Republic's November 2024 report, one year after the show, sales reached $2.1 million.

The company expanded its product line, introducing additional designs such as keychain versions of the drink cover. Greiner’s mentorship helped the company refine its branding, including updates to the packaging and website.

In addition to NightCap's success in the U.S., the company formed a partnership with StopTopps, a UK-based company that produces disposable drink covers. NightCap became the exclusive distributor of StopTopps in the U.S., further expanding its reach.
