Barbara talked about the tough phase in her life and how she coped with heartbreak by letting go of the victim mindset after she "stopped looking for excuses to leave." She said:
"I think I got tired of being a victim, I don't think I have a type of personality to be placed as a victim, but I suddenly recognized the victim in me. And I think I stopped looking for excuses not to leave."
The official episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show describes Barbara as one of the "most successful entrepreneurs in the country." It continues:

Shark Tank star Barbara talks about the change in perspective
During her interview, Barbara reflected on splitting the company with her ex-boyfriend when he left her for her secretary. After she was asked how she coped with that tough part of her life, Barbara said she decided to split her business partnership confidently. Barbara admitted that she "would be nothing without him" as her ex-boyfriend was experienced and knew much about the business world.
Then, the Shark Tank star shared that he had told her she "couldn't succeed without him," which motivated her to give her best and not give up. Her decision, fueled by "anger," led to Barbara letting go of the victim mindset. She explained:
"Anger got me to the decision because I always saw them having fun and having each other and planning their wedding. They were married very quickly. So I guess it was meant to be and I had no body, that's how I felt."
Reflecting on her decision process, Barbara stated that taking an "emotional" step gives people "power," and she regained her power at that moment.
"The best decisions are the ones where you are doing it from an emotional place of power and I think I had become powerful in that moment."
Even though the Shark Tank star said she didn't think an "insult" was "probably not the best motivation" to keep going, she said it helped her let go of feeling bad about herself.
