Survivor 46 winner Kenzie Petty's pregnancy and island journey
Pregnancy and preparation
Kenzie Petty hails from Charlotte, North Carolina. She first announced her pregnancy on Mother's Day, mere days before the finale of Survivor 46. This added an extra layer of excitement to her triumph on the show.
The couple revealed their pregnancy news in May 2024, a week before the finale on May 22. Kenzie wrote on Instagram,
"I’ve gotten really good at keeping secrets and going on adventures this year, but it’s finally the perfect day to tell y’all WE’RE HAVING A BABY!! Sweet lil Petty popping up in September."
Throughout her pregnancy, Petty received support from her family and friends. In an Instagram story, she expressed her thanks to her "squad" for their help in making her dreams a reality. She added,
"Thank you all for being there for me through the craziest thing I've ever experienced."
Future plans
After winning, Kenzie discussed her future plans, particularly regarding the prize money. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on September 28, she mentioned,
"I'm not touching it. I really did go out there to set up myself for retirement. I am going to take a little bit longer of a maternity leave than I would've originally, but yeah, I'm going to be working the same. I'm living the same. I'm pretty much just putting it away and forgetting about it."
When asked about potentially returning to the island, Petty seemed content with her experience. She said:
"I think my Survivor experience was everything I wanted it to be. I know what it's like to be on the bottom. I know what it's like to be on the top. I think I'm good. Of course, if they call, you need to think about it. But I am very full from Survivor and I don't have anything else that I need from the island. I went out there to win. I won."
Her Survivor journey
Kenzie secured the title of 'Sole Survivor' by earning five of the jury votes, overshadowing Charlie, who finished second with three votes, and Ben, who garnered no votes, during the gripping May 22 finale.
Not only did Kenzie make significant strategic moves, but she also made history in a couple of unique ways. She was the first contestant to wear her Buff as a bow in her hair. She also became the first woman to win a fire-making challenge.
Kenzie and Jackson Petty postponed their June 2023 wedding to accommodate the Survivor filming schedule. They tied the knot in September 2023 after returning from Fiji.
