Since its release in 2000, fans have been clamoring for more Survivor and CBS has listened. The network is airing season 47 of the reality survival show and released episode 5 on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 8 pm ET/PT.
The show features contestants competing through three tribes (Lavo, Gata, and Tuku) in hopes of reaching the finale and winning the prize money of $1 million.
While the Gata and Tuku tribes have five members each, after last week's elimination round, Lavo was left with four contestants. Kishan Patel's strategy backfired and was voted out by his tribe as a result.
Jeff Probst returns to host Survivor 47 and the remaining contestants in the Lavo tribe are Genevieve Mushaluk, Rome Cooney, Solomon Yi, and Teeny Chirichillo. Members of the Gata tribe are Andy Rueda, Anika Dhar, Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, and Sierra Wright. Caroline Vidmar, Gabe Ortis, Kyle Ostawald, Sue Smey, and Tiyana Hallums are the Tuku tribe members.
What happened in Survivor 47 episode 5?
In Scales Be Tippin, Teeny showcased her surprise at the group's decision to eliminate her ally, Kishan. Rome took Teeny to the side and asked her why she was not on his side like she promised.
Teeny got some assurance after talking to Genevieve as the latter declared that Rome and Sol were still at the bottom if push came to shove.
The tribe members were next seen at the site of the challenge as they noticed two colors instead of three on the props. This made the contestants wonder whether they would be switching to two tribes, but Jeff had different plans and he introduced a “brand new Survivor twist” instead.
The tribes would be drawn in a random order into two teams of seven. The teams were: Anika, Sol, Rome, Gabe, Andy, Sierra, and Genevieve for the blue team & Sue, Kyle, Teeny, Sam, Rachel, Tiyana, and Caroline for the yellow team.
The latter won and got the chance to devour some barbecue food. During their feast, Tenny couldn't help but share she felt she was in danger.
In the Lavo tribe, Rome took the opportunity of Teeny not being in the vicinity and bonded with Sol. He revealed Teeny's amulet advantage and Genevieve's desire to work with Teeny over him. Later, Genevieve and Sol shared what Rome was pitching to them individually which Genevieve took as a hint to not trust Rome.
Tiyana also couldn't help but reveal to the entire group that Gabe had been idol-hunting and catching a lot of them. Since Sue and Gabe have been allies, the former did not like Tiyana's actions on Survivor. When everyone got back to their islands, Sue told Gabe what Tiyana had revealed.
Before the immunity challenge, Gata arrived with their chickens and negotiated with Jeff. Since two of the eggs broke and the fact that Sierra refused to kill them for consumption, they traded them for 18 eggs. During the challenge, the tribes needed to drag a net filled with sandbags and coconuts and assemble a puzzle.
While Gata sat out Anika, Tuku sat out Sue for the challenge on Survivor 47. Tuku managed to earn immunity after finishing the challenge first. Gata initially decided to vote out Andy, but later Sam proposed to vote Anika out instead as he didn't trust her.
Andy knew about this development and pretended in front of Rachel and Anika to be a part of a plan. They both agreed and planned to get Sam voted out. At the tribal council, the voting for elimination commenced, and Anika was voted out 3-1 against Andy to the shock of her and Rachel.
Anika was left in tears as she left the sets of Survivor 47 and refused to say goodbye to her tribe members.
