As reported by Surviving Tribal on August 23, 2024, Jeff Probst revealed that season 50 of the show will welcome returnees. After the news, the fans have already started speculating about the cast, location, and any new twists that will come along this mega 50th season.

What to expect from seaon 50 of Survivor?

It might appear too early to talk about the semicentennial season of the legendary show Survivor. Still, Jeff Probst could not keep his calm and revealed during an event on April 28, 2024, he announced that they have decided to call former players of the show for season 50. Jeff Probst posted about the announcement on his Instagram on the same day. The video post had Jeff surrounded by the fans who cheered after Jeff's announcement.

During the Survivor Q&A event with Entertainment Weekly Editor in Chief Patrick Gomez on Saturday night at the Ovation Hollywood complex in Los Angeles, Jeff Probst told the editor at the end about season 50. He said:

"I just got an idea, Survivor 50 is coming down the corner. The truth is, we really do focus on 47 and 48, that’s what we’re heading out to shoot next, and then we have to shoot 49. But we know 50 is coming, so I am curious, is there a feeling, should 50 be another season with new players and don’t make it a big deal?”

The audience did not like his idea booed, and Probst then posed another question and said:

"Or should it be returning players?”

Survivor has created a legacy and following by serving the fans with ultimate thrill and entertainment. It has been over two decades since the show is running, and its 50th season will make it more memorable. The show has welcomed returness players previously too. In season 40 and season 20, the cast was all returnee players, and as Jeff himself has confirmed, season 50 will have a cast full of familiar faces.

Fans are still speculating on the theme for the 50th season, as no information has floated yet. The channel also decided which former players will get the call for the upcoming season. Probst, in an interview with Variety on August 22, 2024, had to say this about the selection of cast for season 50:

"Here’s how it works. I’m in post-production on 47, in pre-production on 49; I’m starting casting on 49, and then we have 50 coming up this year, so that’s a bigger thing.”

However, a few former players of Survivor have decided to not wait for season 50 and will be joining the coming Australian version of the show. Parvati Shallow, Cirie Fields, and Tony Vlachos announced during an interview with Entrtainment Weekly on September 16, 2024, that they will be joining Survivor: Australia v. The World which is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

Survivor season 47 will air on CBS and Paramount+ on September 18, 2024, at 8 pm ET.
