Season 26 of The Voice concluded with Sofronio Vasquez, a 31-year-old from Mindanao, Philippines, emerging as the winner. Guided by coach Michael Bublé, Sofronio delivered impactful performances throughout the competition, securing his place in the Top 2 alongside fellow Team Bublé finalist Shye.

During the live finale, Sofronio reflected on his journey and the connection he built with his coach, expressing his gratitude with the words, “Team Bublé all the way.”

This statement came as Sofronio and Shye awaited the results, with both contestants supporting each other in their shared goal of representing their coach in the finale.

Reflecting on the moment, Sofronio shared, “I told Shye, ‘I think you're the winner.’ She replied, ‘No, you're the winner.’ And I said, ‘We are all winners. Team Bublé all the way.’”

Sofronio’s journey on The Voice marked a significant milestone as he became the first Filipino/Asian winner of the U.S. version of the show. According to him, his connection with Bublé was instrumental to his success.

It resonated with viewers and showcased the impact of mentorship in the competition.

Sofronio’s journey to the top and decision to choose Michael Bublé in The Voice

Sofronio Vasquez’s journey to victory on The Voice began with his Blind Audition, where his performance turned the chairs of all four coaches.

Faced with the choice of selecting a mentor, Sofronio admitted he initially felt intimidated by Michael Bublé. He shared:

“I was thinking, ‘What if I pick him and I cannot express myself because I'm always intimidated?’”

However, a conversation during the pitch phase changed his perspective.

“When the time came that he was pitching his ideas, I was really in shock that he was very Filipino,” Sofronio explained, adding that their emotional connection influenced his decision.

Under Bublé’s mentorship, Sofronio performed memorable songs, including Crying by Roy Orbison and A Million Dreams from the movie The Greatest Showman. These performances reflected his artistic growth and ability to connect with audiences, according to his mentor.

By the finale, he and Shye, also from Team Bublé, represented their coach as the final two contestants.

Celebrating the win, and future plans after The Voice

After being announced as the winner of The Voice Season 26, Sofronio Vasquez joined a wrap party hosted by Snoop Dogg to celebrate his achievement. Reflecting on the season, Sofronio expressed his gratitude for the support he received, saying:

“It’s good to know that even from the start, they told me, ‘We were rooting for you.’ It’s a compliment.”

He said that the party marked a moment of appreciation for the journey he shared with the show’s team and his fellow contestants.

Sofronio’s victory also made history as he became the first Filipino/Asian winner of the U.S. version of The Voice.

His win was celebrated not only in the Philippines but also in countries like Indonesia and Singapore, highlighting the global resonance of his story and talent.

Looking ahead, Sofronio revealed his plans to focus on creating inspirational music. Speaking about his vision, he said:

“I have a really good vision about my music, but, of course, I would love to hook up with a collaborator. With Michael Bublé’s idea, he knows who are the perfect people to be connected to.”
