Teen Mom: The Next Chapter is back for season 2, releasing on Thursday, May, 30, on MTV. After the first season concluded on October 2023, fans had been eagerly waiting to catch up on the lives of women who embraced motherhood in their teenage and moms of teens.

Season two will see their kids grow by one full year, revealing what unfolded in their lives. The official YouTube channel for MTV Teen Mom released a first-look trailer on May 8, and a sneak peek clip, on May 23.

The trailer confirms Jenelle's return in season 2 of the show, it also shows Leah Messier starting her journey to becoming a real estate agent. While Mackenzie McKee is seen celebrating her one-year anniversary with her boyfriend.

It also shows Amber Portwood's daughter and Maci Bookout's son learning how to drive, and get their own licenses. Apart from that, Holly is seen explaining to her daughter that their relationship won't change because of the problems between her and her husband.

Three takeaways from the trailer of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season 2

1) Maci teaches her son how to drive

Maci Bookout's son Bentley and Amber Portwood's daughter Leah are both turning 16 this fall so, it's the right time for them to learn to start driving. The trailer mentions both the kids trying to learn how to drive, but the whole sneak peek clip from the show is dedicated to Bentley's journey of learning how to drive.

The sneak peek of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season 2 shows Bentley diligently studying to take his first driving test, and he passes it, successfully acquiring a learner's license.

Maci, as a proctor, advises him to not ask questions while he is taking the test. He asks her to let him pass, which she refuses. When he says no one's going to know, she tells him to look around, in a room full of camera crew.

She then takes him out to drive. She makes it tougher for him by asking him to park in a certain space. She gets cones and challenges him to not touch them as he parks. He hits a cone or two but parks the car in the right spot.

2) Jenelle returns for season 2

Jenelle left Teen Mom 2 in 2019, but her return to Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season 2 was confirmed by the channel in a press release. It also said that though Janelle won't be returning as a full-time member, she will play a guest role in the upcoming season. The trailer further confirms her appearance, as it shows her saying:

"I think it will be good to have a fresh start".

This season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter will cover the earlier days of Jenelle's split from her now estranged husband David Eason, as she makes life-changing moves.

3) Leah Messier runs into her husband

As seen in the trailer of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season 2, Leah Messier is starting her career as a real estate agent. Her first property to sell is her own house, the one which she is currently living in, and bought together with her former fiance Jaylan Mobley in 2022.

The trailer also alludes to Leah bumping into her former husband Jeremy Calvert back in December. This was the same meeting that made her file for a protective order against him. The trailer sees Addie, Leah's daughter, saying,

"The police showed up and you looked all scary".

This means the reasons Leah took such a step against her husband are likely to be revealed in the upcoming season, along with the process of her doing so.

New episodes of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season 2 will be released on Thursdays, May 30, on MTV at 8 pm ET.
