Shark Tank investor Daymond John shares financial and career advice for young entrepreneurs. He is active on his social media accounts where he posts content related to starting business ventures, navigating the corporate world, and achieving success.

In a January 8, 2025, Tiktok clip posted to Daymond's official account, the Shark Tank investor talked about the "loud quitting" trend that has been popular among the new generation. Daymond shared his opinion on this trend of calling out toxic work environments and quitting publicly by criticizing the company. He said that this can "play two roles" and people should be attentive when the majority starts loud quitting. John continued:

"I actually think that can play two roles, I think it's great when there's a toxic boss, toxic environment so if you see a bunch of people loud quitting, you better pay attention."

He also mentioned the downside of this trend which could get employees in trouble. The Tiktok clip caption states the perspective of both employee and employer, it mentions:

"Based on @cnbc1 in 5 employees are #loudquitting. Here are some thoughts to consider from an employee and employer perspective. Which do you agree with?"

The caption further points out the reasons behind this trend and how toxic culture develops in a work environment, it continues:

"Employee POV: Feeling unheard or unappreciated, Burnout from toxic environments, No growth opportunities or unfair treatment, Frustration reaches a breaking point. Employer POV: Poor leadership or unclear expectation, Ignored concerns snowballing over time, Toxic work culture driving public exits."

Shark Tank investor Daymond's take on the "loud quitting" trend

In the TikTok clip, the Shark Tank investor shared his thoughts on the loud quitting trend in which employees would resign and quit their jobs by announcing it on social media. This dramatic way of calling out toxic work environments or employers is "absolutely amazing" according to Daymond.

He stated that employers should pay attention to when people "collectively" criticize their workplace, environment, or boss and choose to walk away. The Shark Tank investor also talked about the "emotion " of taking this step, he said:

"You better pay attention to what's going on with your staff, because you [evoke] so much emotion that these people have collectively started saying 'I don't care what happens to me out publicly, This place sucks.' And I think that's absolutely amazing."

He mentioned the downside of receiving "too much attention over it" which could lead to a negative outcome in the future. Daymond implied that it could affect the future opportunities of an employee while saying that loud quitting at times is responded with loud replies.

He shared that this could also lead to legal trouble if the information is not right. As per Daymond, the loud quitting trend can get employees "sued for slander" if they say the wrong things online, he explained:

"If you do it too much, and you get too much attention over it, and it's not a bad place to work, I think you hurt yourself in the process."

All previous seasons of Shark Tank are available on ABC. The upcoming season 16 episode 10 is set to release exclusively on ABC on January 31, 2025. Fans can follow Daymond on his social media accounts.
