USA Network's new competition series The Anonymous features 12 players who must manipulate and deceive each other to gain popularity while secretly betraying others in "anonymous mode." Created by Studio Lambert, the show lets players hide behind a unique handle and speak freely in their own secret lairs.
The challenge is whether they can stay anonymous or if their identities will be uncovered by others. The official synopsis of the show reads:
"In this new competition series from the creators of The Traitors, 12 contestants must remain anonymous to collect up to $100,000."
In the social strategy game The Anonymous, participants are free to express their true feelings while hiding behind a mask will be hosted by Master of the House & Sassy A.I. Host DANI, of The Anonymous.
The Anonymous host: DANI
The artificial intelligence (AI) that manages the real and virtual worlds where Anonymous participants compete for the $100,000 prize is called DANI, or Digital Anonymous Networking Interface. Each contestant has a secret underground lair of their own where they may plan, communicate, and divulge information while remaining anonymous. Players take exams every week from DANI in which they have to try to match other players' online handles. Elimination follows exposure.
However, DANI is more than just an interface. One can see that she has a personality and attitude in the video added above. In fact, DANI, the self-proclaimed "master of this domain," narrates the mid-video preview.
She lashes out at a contender who makes a joke about calling his mother to take care of DANI, saying,
“Your mama has no authority here.”
The video's description reads She's A.I. A.F. and the head of the house. It's a really clever line, and viewers will quickly discover that the astute DANI is more than just a simple artificial intelligence system—she has personality and snark to spare. DANI is in charge of the competitors on The Anonymous.
Every week, DANI holds examinations in which each participant is required to attempt to match players with their handles. The player with the greatest ability to remain anonymous gains the ability to remove rivals from the game. Only one will win the big prize in a game where every move is premeditated and a single slip-up might reveal your true nature.
The Anonymous will launch on USA Network on Monday, August 19 at 11 p.m. ET/PT with three episodes. Additionally, on debut night, episodes will show simultaneously on Bravo and SYFY. Throughout the week, they will rerun in primetime on USA every day. From then on, Mondays at 11 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network will see the weekly premiere of new episodes.
