The Anonymous, a new reality TV competition, challenges contestants to lead "double lives" with secret digital IDs. They can meet in person but have to hide their true identities while targeting threats. This element of anonymity adds intrigue to the game.
The three-episode premiere on August 19, 2024, surprised viewers when an unexpected elimination occurred. Despite trying to secure her position in the game, Sydney Dorsey went home after she was eliminated from the show.
The Anonymous season 1 premiere episode titled Welcome to The Anonymous, aired exclusively on USA Network on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The episode synopsis reads as the following:
"Twelve players live double lives in the ultimate game of strategy and deception to win $100,000."
Sydney Dorsey was voted out on The Anonymous season 1 episode 2
Sydney Dorsey's anonymous emoji was the wizard, through which she was trying to secure her position in the game. Her main approach to this competition was to seem relatable, become a good ally, and a trustworthy secret keeper. She had no intentions of targetting someone without any reason and was focusing on being a likable player. Unfortunately, Sydney's strategy backfired and she was eliminated from The Anonymous.
In an exclusive interview with USA Insider, she shared that her experience of being a hairstylist and beauty pageant contestant was supposed to give her the upper hand. Unfortunately, Sydney wanted to make alliances first and not target someone, as she wanted to take her time in evaluating each person's motive and personality. She further continued stating:
"I felt that if I felt comfortable sharing with them my secrets, they would open up to me. And I really did have a lot of those conversations with a lot of different cast mates."
She said that the first chat was a great opportunity for her to "throw someone under the bus" but she wasn't in a rush to target someone till that point. Later in the episode, it was revealed that Lily Jenkins and Sydney Dorsey might be eliminated, but somehow, Lily was saved. Dorsey shared that Lily was trying to convince others to save her and keep her a part of the game, but Dorsey didn't want to do the same.
Reflecting on what she might have changed if she got a chance to join the show once again, Sydney shared she would participate more actively in the conversations, instead of having a laid-back approach.
The Anonymous cast member further mentioned:
"I just wanted to be that relatable, nice person that everyone looked up to. So I kind of just went along with the chat in the first half and didn't get a second chat."
The upcoming episodes will reveal new plot twists as viewers wait to see who will be eliminated next. According to the rules, each episode will have an elimination.
