The Bachelorette season 21 star Grant Ellis was announced as the upcoming star of The Bachelor season 29 on August 12, 2024, shortly after his elimination from Jenn Tran's season. The ABC reality show is set to release in 2025 with Grant as the second Black Bachelor, after Matt James.
His journey as one of Jenn's suitors concluded just before the 'Hometowns' segment. Previously, he had professed love to Jenn, however, his feelings were not reciprocated. As he exited the show, a new opportunity came knocking on his door. He was offered the chance to embark on the journey of love as the Bachelor.
"Ellis is eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections, He hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures," ABC stated.
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, Grant shared a video post on his official Instagram handle where several eliminated cast members of The Bachelorette season 21 congratulated the New Jersey-based football player and wished him the best in his new endeavor.

In the recently shared video, Brett Harris, the first person evicted from Jenn Tran's season, stated he would be "rooting" for Grant Ellis. He confessed he was over the moon when he heard the news. Ricky Marinez followed suit and said:
"As soon as I saw you, I'm like, this guy's the next Bachelor. He's perfect for it."
Dylan Bukor complimented Grant's dependable personality and confessed he was the best fit for the Bachelor's role. He expressed gratitude to The Bachelorette star for being a "big brother" and giving good life advice to him.
Next was Sam Nejad, popularly known as Sam N., who praised Grant's kind nature.
"You've been nothing but kind to me every time I was feeling down or sad. You always pulled me out of the hole," Sam said.
The Bachelorette cast member Spencer Conley could not "think of anyone more deserving to be the next Bachelor." He mentioned that Grant had the necessary characteristics to win ladies' hearts.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Brian Autz chimed in with the rest and shared his thoughts on Grant's personality. He stated that the latter was the "one of the most genuine guys" on the show, who was "actually looking for love." As a result, he was convinced Grant would do justice to the role assigned to him.
Thomas Nguyen echoed Brian's thoughts and said:
"He's ready for love. You know, one of the most caring and giving guys that we know."
Moreover, Tomas Azzano called Grant "a good man" with genuine intentions. He added that whoever accepted him as their partner would be "absolutely lucky" since he was caring. John Mitchell looked forward to watching The Bachelorette star take on the new role. He mentioned he would arrange a "huge watch party" and watch him with the others.
Jeremy Simon believed no one else could handle "dating 30 girls at once." He congratulated Grant and was "super pumped" to witness his journey unfold. Hakeem Moulton was next. He said:
"Good luck, Grant, I love you to death. I'll be waiting for you out in Chicago because you need to come with your fiance. And then hopefully you cannot make me feel too much like a third wheel, but I'll still be rocking with you, brother."
The Bachelorette shared another video on Instagram on August 21, 2024, where Jenn Tran congratulated Grant on his upcoming role as the Bachelor. She confessed that nobody deserved the opportunity more than him since he was one of the most genuine people who did not hesitate to address his feelings. She looked forward to seeing the "amazing things" he would do on his journey.
The Bachelor season 29 is set to premiere on ABC in January 2025.
