What happened on The Bachelorette season 21 episode 4?
The Bachelorette season 21 episode 4 started with Jenn Tran's one-on-one date with Sam McKinney who previously got the first impression rose from her. For their date, they went to the Auckland Sky Tower in New Zealand. While Jenn insisted she didn't want to jump, her date wanted her to "face her fears."
Tran realized Sam wasn't exactly paying attention to what she was saying while McKinney seemed to realize he should let her choose what she wanted.
During their date, McKinney opened up about his previous relationship and how he got cheated on. His emotional maturity helped him earn another rose from Jenn, McKinney told The Bachelorette star that he will go to great lengths for the people he loves.
“There’s no road I will not travel, no bridge I will not cross for people I really love,” Sam said.
Next up was the group date with 10 contestants, Spencer, Marcus, Grant, John M., Austin, Jonathon, Dylan, Thomas, Jeremy, and Sam N. To the viewers' surprise, Sam N. tried to make a lasting impression on Jenn but it rubbed her the wrong way. Jenn told him they could not share a kiss yet. During the rugby field date, Marcus got the rose.
Another one-on-one date of Jenn Trann on The Bachelorette season 21 was with Devin Strader. The pair learned about the Māori culture and heritage during their date and got the opportunity to open up about their family backgrounds.
Jenn shared she is the daughter of immigrant parents who are Buddhists from Vietnam. Devin opened up about how her single mother raised her and that she was thankful for all the sacrifices she made for her. Jenn could see a future with him, hence gave him the rose.
The major plot twist in this episode was when Jenn Tran's ex Matt Rossi entered the show. Jesse Palmer explained that Matt wanted to win Jenn's heart again and reached out to the show production.
“A guy from Jenn’s past has reached out to one of our producers — it’s obviously not normal, it’s very unexpected. I’m told that he’s flown himself halfway around the world to New Zealand on his own dime just to have a conversation with Jenn," he explained
