The Bachelorette is a reality dating show in which a single woman goes on a quest to find her true love by dating several men over the course of a few weeks, before finally choosing the one she wants to marry. In the sixth episode of The Bachelorette season 21, the stakes were high as the hometowns are just one week away for Jenn Tran.

The episode began with trouble for Sam; he was the first one to get an impression rose from Jenn and now he is in the elimination zone. When the group gets back to the United States, they spend a week in Seattle.

Jenn gets advice from Charity Lawson, who is an alum of The Bachelorette from season 20. Charity talks about how writing down the good and bad things about each suitor helped her reflect on what she wanted in a relationship.

Marcus opens up on his date with Jenn in The Bachelorette

Jenn selected Marcus for a one-on-one date with her. The date started on a lighter note, where they answered some either-or questions. However, as the conversations continued between them, it took a serious turn during the dinner date.

Marcus shared a deeply personal story about his childhood with Jenn, in which he and his sister were abandoned by their parents at a young age, which made them spend their formative years in foster care. He explained that this trauma had made him vulnerable, which is why he hesitates to open up in any of his relationships.

Jenn felt moved by the story, which helped her understand why Marcus might have been holding back in their relationship. She decided to give him the rose and he was in the front running for the upcoming hometown week.

Sam's inability to connect led to his downfall in The Bachelorette

Sam, who got the first rose from Jenn initially, ended his journey in episode 6 of The Bachelorette. Sam was once thought to be a favorite by the fans and Jenn, but during the group date, it became clear that he couldn't express his feelings or connect with Jenn on a deeper level.

The date was set out as a radio show on iHeart Media's 'Love On-Air Seattle' to see how well the suitors knew Jenn. Jason and Molly Mesnick, former members of The Bachelorette, hosted the show. However, things quickly went off track when Sam had trouble answering simple questions about their relationship.

During the date, Sam said that he thought Daisy or Maria Georgas would be the bachelorette instead of Jenn. This made Jenn upset. He tried to kiss Jenn when he couldn't think of what to say, but it was clear that she wasn't sure about him during the date.

Jenn later asked him if he would meet her parents and Sam said he "didn't know". He didn't get a rose and was eliminated from the show.

Later, Jeremy was chosen for the second one-on-one date, where they talked about their different faiths and how they would raise their kids in the future. Jeremy got the rose, securing his place in the hometown week.

At the end of the episode, Jenn skipped the cocktail party because she was sure that sending Sam home was the right thing to do. Devin and Jonathan received the last two roses, while Jenn sent Spencer and Grant home. Jenn has now chosen her last four suitors.
