The Bachelorette season 21 began airing earlier in July 2024, and introduced viewers to the season's main lead, Jenn Tran, who is looking to find her one true love. After eliminations, group dates, and spending one-on-one time with the remaining 12 men on the show, Jenn is hopeful she will find her future husband among her suitors. The latest episode 4 saw her connecting with cast members Sam McKinney and Devin Strader.
She also went on a group date with the 10 men, including Spencer, Marcus, Grant, John M., Austin, Jonathan, Dylan, Thomas, Jeremy, and Sam N. The group date gave Jenn clarity on who she could see a future with.
During the Rugby Royale date, Sam N. tried to be in the spotlight and took Jenn away to spend some private time with him. However, Jenn wasn't too pleased with his behavior and realized that Sam N. might not be the right person for her, thus, sending him home. With that, Sam N.'s journey on The Bachelorette season 21 came to an end.
The Bachelorette season 21 episode 4 was released exclusively on ABC on Monday, July 29, 2024. The episode synopsis reads:
"Jenn and her men head to Auckland, New Zealand, as her journey to find love continues; while connections soar and the men tackle their competition for her heart, an unexpected visitor arrives, leaving Jenn more confused than ever."
Sam N. went home on The Bachelorette season 21 episode 4
On The Bachelorette season 21 episode 4, Sam N. decided to wear a jersey that said “Jenn’s Husband” instead of his own name. At first, it was looked at as a sweet gesture, but soon, Sam started to come off as an "arrogant" person who wanted to secure his connection with Jenn with a kiss.
This upset the other guys, who wanted equal time with Jenn but felt like Sam kept stealing her away from them. According to Jonathan, Sam was being "disrespectful" towards everyone else during the game after Marcus was injured. Jenn was worried that an unfilled day was transitioning into unhealthy competitiveness between the cast members.
Later in the episode, Sam tried to take Thomas N.'s time to connect with Jenn. He was sure Tran would give him the rose and seal their connection with a kiss. The Bachelorette season 21 star said that he really wanted to take their "relationship to the next step."
Jenn, on the other hand, was a little upset after Marcus got hurt on the rugby field. She didn't feel connected to Sam either, so she told him that she wasn't the "right person" for him. Jenn told him that she admired his openness and vulnerability, but, she added that she wasn't sure if she saw the two of them "getting there."
“I admire how open you are and how vulnerable you’ve been…but I want to be honest with you. I just don’t know if I can see us getting there. I don’t think I’m the right person."
This statement was a shock to Sam N., who was convinced Jenn would choose him. Instead, the Bachelorette decided to give the rose to Marcus. Sam was upset that his journey on the show was cut short and couldn't understand what led to his departure from the show.
Before leaving, he said that he was leaving the show feeling "confused" and like the "biggest fool of the century.”
