The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras episode 3: Who went home tonight?

The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras episode 3 titled A Fatal Era was released exclusively on MTV on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 8 PM ET/PT. This spinoff series of the iconic The Challenge series features 40 participants from previous seasons competing in eras for a million-dollar prize fund. Hosted by T.J. Lavin, the show premises require teams to save themselves from elimination by winning each task.

In episode 3 of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras, two members from each era feared their journey would end and were given a chance to secure their place. In the elimination task, Tony and Jodi were sent home after competing against Darrell and Avery, respectively. The competition features Era 1 contestants Aneesa Ferreira, CT Tamburello, and Darrell Taylor, and Era 2 contestants Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio, Cara Maria Sorbello, and Laurel Stucky.

Meanwhile, Era 3 features Averey Tressler, Cory Wharton, Devin Walker, Jonna Mannion, Jordan Wiseley, Nia Moore, Tony Raines, and Tori Deal. Era 4, on the other hand, includes Horacio Gutierrez Jr., Jenny West, Josh Martinez, Kaycee Clark, Kyland Young, Michele Fitzgerald, Olivia Kaiser, and Theo Campbell.

Tony and Jodi were eliminated from The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras in episode 3

On The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras in episode 3 T.J. Lavin shared that all participants must work together for the new task. For episode 3, the four eras had to choose two representatives from their respective groups and plan a game strategy. Additionally, the main task was a combination of small tasks, first, the teams had to go to the island in boats, reach the Vietnamese delicacies, and finish their meals. Each team had to arrange the forty shields in perfect order for the last task.

To the viewers' surprise, Era 3 represented by Tony and Averey won this challenge and Era 1 representatives Jodi and Darrell lost. This meant Jodi and Darrell had to compete in the elimination challenge meanwhile, Era 4 and Era 2 had the chance to convince others not to send them for a possible elimination.

The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras host explained that elimination task and how it was an individual one. It was decided that for the men's task, Darrell and Era 3 player Tony were to compete. Among the women, Jodi and Era 3 participant Averey were selected and given a chance to save themselves from going home.

This elimination challenge on The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras focused on speed. Each player had to race as fast as they could, carry heavy tiles, and build a pathway for themselves. Unfortunately, due to Era 3's lack of team support, Tony was sent home but Era 3 didn't want to repeat the same mistake and ended up saving Averey which meant Jodi was eliminated from the show.
