Episode highlights and elimination in The Challenge 40

The episode set-up

In The Challenge 40, episode 6 kicks off with Tina and Nehemiah, fresh from their elimination victory, targeting Brad and Rachel for Era 1, Bananas and Laurel for Era 2, Cory and Jonna for Era 3, and Josh and Jenny for Era 4. As the pressure builds, Bananas hopes his alliances will protect him despite the tension with his partner, Laurel.

Meanwhile, Jenny from Era 4 feels unsupported and expendable. Olivia, on the other hand, confesses to aligning with Michele. She casts Kaycee as their strongest player but considers Jenny a scapegoat. Kaycee dismisses Jenny's issues as personal problems. In the morning strategy talks, Josh and Tori (allies of Era 3) navigate Josh’s loyalty conflicts, concerning Bananas and Laurel from Era 2.

Brad and Rachel from Era 1 brace for battle, and Cory worries his link to Jonna has made him a target. Bananas warns Jenny about Michele's close ties with Devin, suggesting Devin manipulates Michele as a game pawn and that Jenny should be wary of aiding Era 4's wins due to these potentially harmful alliances.

The Challenge: Cloud Catcher

The episode's main challenge, “Cloud Catcher,” tests the players' teamwork and coordination. Participants must navigate across a field, collect helium-filled balloons, and transport them through obstacles before solving a giant riddle. During the challenge, Derrick from Era 1 suffers a leg injury but continues to participate with a severe limp.

Era 4 excels at protecting their balloons, while Era 1 struggles to perform well. Ultimately, Era 4 emerges victorious, granting Josh and Jenny control over the evening’s elimination round. Era 1, having the poorest performance, sends Brad and Rachel to the arena.

As the challenge concludes, Josh faces the tough decision of which duo from Era 3 or 4 will join Brad and Rachel in the arena. Cory, anticipating Bananas's targeting, is cautious of Josh's choices, while Brad and Rachel accept their fate in the elimination rounds. A strategic discussion within Era 4 sees Olivia and Kyland advocating for Bananas and Laurel's nomination.

The elimination: To the Point

The evening culminates in the elimination challenge, “To the Point,” where players must launch balls at a wall of spikes, aiming to secure the most balls by the end of the challenge. Brad and Cory face off first, with the latter winning in a close 4-3 battle. As a result, Brad gets evicted.

Next, Rachel from Era 1 competes against Jonna from Era 3. Rachel ultimately prevails with a score of 5-3, leading to Jonna’s elimination.

After their victories, Cory and Rachel gain the power to select targets for the forthcoming challenge. They choose Darrell and Tina from Era 1, Nehemiah and Aviv from Era 2, Jordan and Nia from Era 3, and Kyland and Michele from Era 4. This strategic positioning sets the stage for the next episode.
