  • Era 4: Jenny West, Josh Martinez, Kaycee Clark, Kyland Young, Michele Fitzgerald, Olivia Kaiser, Theo Campbell

Pre-challenge dynamics

Heading into the evening, targets were set on key players. Tina & CT represented Era 1, Emily & Nehemiah stood for Era 2, Tori & Devin for Era 3, and Olivia & Kyland for Era 4. CT disclosed that he volunteered to be a target to keep their team viable in eliminations. Contrarily, Nehemiah expressed his intent to avoid elimination.

Olivia confronted Josh for retracting his self-nomination, leading to a loss of trust. The atmosphere was buoyant by the pool the following day, as contestants engaged in grilling and cocktails, which eventually gave way to nocturnal hookups. A budding romantic connection developed between Devin and Michele, despite its perceived imprudence.

Privacy and strategy

The following morning, Nehemiah attempted to secure a deal with Devin, suggesting that if either won, they should nominate teams from Era 1 and Era 4 for elimination. Devin preferred to consult with Tori due to his affiliations with CT and Olivia.

An emerging detail was the Vacation Alliance, comprising Josh, Kaycee, Tori, and Devin, which stirred apprehension among the other contestants due to its potency.

Challenge: fast pass

The main event of the day started with the "Fast Pass" challenge. Teams had to maneuver a Y-shaped beam through a wooded area, collect four sandbags, and bring them back to their team station, where they’ll each have one large balance beam. The first team to finish would gain immunity. Era 1 trailed from the start, as internal disagreements surfaced.

Other eras faced difficulties, particularly Era 3 due to Jordan and Tori's discord and Era 2 with Laurel's unaccountable behavior.

Era 4 emerged victorious, securing Kyland and Michele's immunity and power. Era 2 and Era 3 followed, leaving Era 1 for elimination. Internal tensions in Era 1 led to open disputes. In the chamber, Kyland and Olivia listened to the pleas of Devin and Tori and Nehemiah and Emily. The discussion unveiled strategic deals and alignments, complicating the decision-making process.

Returning contestants Emily and Tina revealed alliances between Era 3 and Era 4 to their respective teams, fueling further strategy planning. Michele's attempt to mend fences with Laurel led to a vehement exchange, indicating deep-seated tensions. This discord extended to other players, culminating in high-stakes verbal exchanges, especially between Cara Maria and Laurel.

Elimination round

The intense elimination round, "Getting Hammered", started. Contestants had to remove 100 nails from one plank and hammer 100 more into another. Tina's efficient strategy led her to triumph over Emily. In the subsequent men's round, Nehemiah also managed a critical victory against CT, resulting in CT’s unexpected elimination.

As the episode of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras concluded, Tina and Nehemiah, as victors, chose new targets. Brad and Rachel from Era 1, Bananas & Laurel from Era 2, Cory and Jonna from Era 3, and Josh and Jenny from Era 4 were nominated, setting the stage for further intrigue and competition in the next episode.
