The Circle season 7 is now on Netflix, starting September 11. This season features new contestants playing a strategic game on social media, with players choosing to be themselves or catfish others.
In the first four episodes, viewers have seen bold moves, surprising alliances, and plenty of drama. Michelle Buteau returns as host, guiding the players as they navigate the game on a Circle-only platform where every interaction can impact their chances of winning.
From bold first moves to unexpected twists, the first four episodes packed plenty of drama. Here are the five key takeaways from episodes 1 to 4 of season 7.
The Circle: Catfishing plays a bigger role
Catfishing tactics are prominent this season. Deb, a 54-year-old Pittsburgh native, joined the game as Rachel, a 26-year-old, and the twins JoJo and Nicky chose to represent JoJo's girlfriend Gianna. Both found it difficult to keep up their false identities while forming alliances.
Timing and trust are key factors in catfishing, in addition to upholding a falsehood. Deb and the twins had to take risks while making sure their true identities remained a secret. As they attempted to evade detection, their tactics increased the suspense.
Alliances and disruptor mode
Early on, important alliances were created amongst people such as Deb, Kevin, and Darian. But there was a twist when the disruptor mode appeared. As the game's disruptors, JoJo and Nicky acquired power that might alter the outcome and strain already-existing relationships.
The twins' ability to alter the game through disruptor mode opened up possibilities for scheming and forming alliances. This turn of events intensified the tension and left everyone wondering what would happen next.
Kevin's VIP party and drama
Kevin invited Darian and Gianna to a VIP party he was hosting after obtaining disruptor powers. Other players became tense, notably Savannah who felt left out. The drama created by the exclusion changed alliances in subsequent episodes.
There were definite boundaries between those who were invited and those who weren't at the VIP party. Particularly, Savannah's isolation created friction and tensions that impacted the chemistry of the group.
New players and romance
The flirting between Darian and Jadheja gave the play a romantic feel, and Savannah made an effort to get closer to Kevin. As this was going on, Madelyn and Garret, two new gamers, showed in and upset the established alliances.
As they attempted to leave their mark, the new competitors had to manage relationships that had already been formed. Their entrance added new life and intricacy to the game's social dynamics.
Savannah’s elimination
Savannah was blocked in the first elimination despite her romantic connection to Kevin and her allies. Many were taken aback by the choice, which was influenced by the disruptors, and it caused the remaining players to reconsider their plans.
The departure of Savannah demonstrated how rapidly events might shift in the show. The other players changed their strategies in response to her elimination, setting the stage for additional exciting plays.
Episodes 1 to 4 of The Circle season 7 are available on Netflix. The next set of episodes drops on September 18.
