The Circle season 7 premiered with its first four episodes on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Netflix's popular social media competition series returned with another lineup of 10 contestants, competing against one another for a grand prize of $100,000.
The only catch was that they could not physically interact with anyone, with The Circle Chat being their only mode of communication. The contestants had the leeway to utilize the digital medium of interaction to their advantage by deceiving others. They could play the game as themselves or choose someone else's identity and play as an imposter.
The cast members could use the deception to misguide others and win the competitions played each day. However, when played mindlessly, it could also backfire, impacting adversely. In the first episode, the contestants played Risky Quizness, where each answered some steamy questions. They saw each other's answers and formed their opinions.
From reading texts on a partner's phone to jumping into an icy lake to save a dog, the questions were varied. It left the contestants rethinking their first impressions of each other.
The Circle cast members were asked some "spicy questions" in Risky Quizness
Risky Quizness was the first game the cast members participated in. They had only begun interacting with and understanding their competitors when the game was announced. It came with rewards, tempting the players to put their best foot forward.
While describing the game's premise, narrator Michelle Buteau said:
"In Risky Quizness, the players will be asked a series of spicy questions. These questions are so spicy, they'll cause heartburn."
The players were given two paddles, one with a thumbs-up sign and another with a thumbs-down. They had to raise one per their answers. The first question asked if they would send someone a steamy picture of themselves. The Circle cast member Jadejha was the sole player who said no.
"No, I can't do that. Although this body do be bodying," Jadejha said.
Meanwhile, the others easily answered in the affirmative. When the results were revealed to all, Heather, catfishing as Andy, said, "Jadejha is not a freak. The rest of us are." The next question asked The Circle stars if they would "join the mile-high club." Like the previous round, Jadejha was the only person to say no, while the rest answered yes.
Since some were playing imposters, they tweaked their answers according to their fake identities.
"They're gonna expect Andy to say yes, because he's, like, tatted up band dude," Andy explained.
The following question asked if they would jump into an icy lake to save a dog. While most thought everyone would say yes, Darian was the only player who said no. He explained he would not save the dog because he could not swim.
Although he had his reasons, his response made the rest suspicious of his intentions and actions. Nicky and Jojo stated that whoever said no was "asking to get booted."
"You look like an a**h*le, Darian. Sorry to break it to you," Nicky said.
The next question asked if they would read the texts on their partner's phones. Although their opinions differed, they answered according to their character's personality. Once again, Darian became the person who differed from the consensus. While everyone said no, Darian answered yes.
The Circle cast members began judging his intentions, wondering if he was showing his "true colors."
"The Risky Quizness got the best of him, because those were two horrible answers," Nicky said.
Meanwhile, Darian's showmance, Jadejha, jokingly mentioned they might "have to push back the wedding" and "go to couples therapy." After the quiz concluded, Darian appeared on everyone's radars as the person with questionable taste.
The Circle season 7 is available to stream only on Netflix.
