Since its premiere in January 2020 on Netflix, The Circle has produced some of the most tactical influencers that have used their smarts to win over the competition and its fellow competitors. While some winners used catfish accounts to be victorious, authentic profiles were enough for others.
In The Circle, the contestants are put into isolated pots of their own. From here, they can't interact with the outside world and have to communicate with their fellow contestants through "circle chat."
They can present their profiles as themselves or catfish others by taking on a different personality. Either way, they have to maintain a top position in the rankings to win the game.
Who won The Circle seasons 1-6
Joey Sasso: Season 1
Joey Sasso made solid bonds with his fellow contestants, Sammie Cimarelli and Shubham Goel. He was a loyal player from the get-go and presented his authentic self.
In November 2022, he posted an Instagram video of his friend and runner-up from the first season, Shubham Goel, letting fans know their friendship is still going strong.
After winning season 1 of The Circle, the New York native is making content for Instagram and TikTok and running a clothing line, Sasso Fam Collection. He has also appeared in TV shows like Perfect Match, Match Me If You Can, and Girls5Eva.
DeLeesa St. Agathe (Trevor): Season 2
In season 2 of the Netflix reality TV show The Circle, DeLeesa St. Agathe won the game by taking the catfishing route and presented herself as Trevor, her husband.
After winning the season, DeLeesa used the prize money to buy a house for her family. She lives in the house with her husband, Trevor, and their three daughters.
The Atlanta native used her reality TV fame to be a social media influencer and post motherhood and lifestyle content. Her husband, Trevor, also entered as a contestant in season 4 and came out as the first runner-up of his season.
James Andre Jefferson Jr.: Season 3
James Andre Jefferson Jr. was the winner of the third season of the Netflix show in September 2021. In his season, he presented as himself and won over runner-up Matthew Pappadia, who was using his catfish abilities to present himself as his best friend, Ashley.
The stand-up comedian, based in LA, got married to his girlfriend, Brittany Jefferson, in August 2022 and currently runs his podcast, The James Andre Jefferson Jr. Show.
He has over 540k Instagram followers thanks to his reality TV fame and his funny skit and reaction videos.
Frank Grimsley: Season 4
Frank Grimsley won season 4 of The Circle, beating season 2 winner DeLeesa's husband, Trevor. Currently, he creates content for social media and is a full-time school social worker in New York City.
In an interview with Distractify on May 25, 2022, he explained how he used "his therapeutic abilities to forge authentic bonds" with other contestants in the show.
Sam Carmona: Season 5
Sam Carmona presented as herself, and it was enough for her to win the fifth season of the show. She was at the bottom of the first ranking and used her intellect to finish as the winner.
Sam used this fame to become a social media influencer and create content on TikTok and Instagram. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on January 18, 2023, she revealed how she had to maintain friendships with her fellow cast mates to win the show.
Brandon Baker: Season 6
Like season 2 winner Deleesa, Brandon Baker took the catfishing route and presented himself as his friend Olivia to win the sixth season of The Circle. Currently, he is a nursing assistant at Grant Medical Center in Ohio.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in May 2024, Brandon talked about his winning strategy. He said that while people were suspicious of her Olivia personality, they weren't seeing her as a threat.
The Circle season 7 will be released on September 11, 2024, on Netflix.
