In The Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos set out to find love again after losing her husband. In episode 5, which aired on October 16, excitement built as hometown dates approached, and Joan had to make tough choices about which relationships could lead to something more serious. With only seven men left, each moment counted.
Before going on another round of dates, Joan looked to The Bachelorette alum Trista Sutter for guidance. Trista advised Joan to embrace vulnerability and give the process her full attention. Joan took this advice to heart and decided not to present any roses during the dates, opting to hold off on making her decisions until after she had spent more time getting to know each candidate.
Keith and Mark's one-on-one dates in The Golden Bachelorette
Keith received the week's first one-on-one date in episode 5 of The Golden Bachelorette. Following his conversation with Joan, he felt a little unsure, but he was determined to seize the opportunity. Keith met Joan for an exciting adventure as they took a helicopter ride over the Bachelor mansion.
The helicopter tour sparked deeper conversations, and when the two landed at the winery. They enjoyed a wine tasting and walked around the grounds. During their private conversation, Keith told Joan about his past marriage. He revealed that he and his daughters hadn’t spoken to his ex-wife in over a decade due to her struggles with addiction.
Later in the week, Joan had her second one-on-one with Mark. They started their date by taking a ride in a red Porsche convertible and then heading to a marina to board a yacht. Although Joan and Mark had the ideal setting, the conversation didn’t flow as smoothly as Joan had hoped.
The two embarked on a scavenger hunt on the yacht, complete with games and challenges to build their relationship. Despite their efforts, Joan later decided to end her relationship with Mark, feeling that their connection wasn’t strong enough to continue.
Group date and rose ceremony decisions in The Golden Bachelorette
Guy, Jordan, Jonathan, Pascal, and Chock joined Joan for a fun and competitive group outing at a bowling alley. The scene began light-heartedly as they rolled strikes and spares, but tension quickly built as the men competed for Joan's attention.
Chock, in particular, left a lasting impression by staying close to Joan throughout the day, sitting beside her and asking personal questions. The other men noticed his efforts, which caused some rivalry during the date. Despite Chock’s bold moves, the other men also had their moments to speak with Joan.
Each man took a few minutes to share more about their family and hopes for the future, especially with the upcoming hometown visits. At the rose ceremony, Joan decided which men would move forward. After careful consideration, she handed roses to Pascal, Chock, Jordan, and Guy, signaling that they would head into the next stage of the competition in The Golden Bachelorette.
Meanwhile, Keith and Jonathan were sent home, as Joan felt their connections weren’t strong enough to continue. With hometown visits approaching, the remaining four men prepared to introduce Joan to their families, hoping to deepen their bonds and move closer to a lasting relationship.
