After the success of ABC's The Golden Bachelor, the network announced The Golden Bachelorette, which premiered to much fanfare on September 18, 2024. The show released episode 6 on October 23, 2024, which will be followed by the finale next week.

The 61-year-old Joan Vassos is the titular bachelorette who entered the show looking for the love of her life. Joan took part in the show's predecessor, which featured Gerry Turner as the bachelor but had to leave due to a family emergency.

Episode 6 of The Golden Bachelorette saw one more bachelor sent home by Joan as she narrowed down her picks for the finale after visiting the hometown of the four bachelors.

The official synopsis of the episode reads:

"Joan travels the country for an eye-opening week of hometown dates with her remaining men; filled with mixed emotions on finding love after loss, she's hopeful meeting their families will give her the clarity she needs."

What happened in The Golden Bachelorette episode 6?

Joan started the episode by reminiscing about her journey in The Golden Bachelorette. She also mentioned her late husband of 32 years and that finding love has been complicated for her.

“I don't think I'm at the love place yet, because I'm very protective of my heart, but I'm moving in that direction. So I hope that I will be in a really good place to find the next great love of my life,” stated Joan.

Joan proceeded to travel to Lake Tahoe, Nevada as she visited Guy Gansert's hometown. They both went on a date and took a boat ride on the lake itself where Guy and Joan shared some personal moments together.

Guy admitted that he had fears about sharing his feelings for Joan in case nothing worked out between them.

After their boat ride, Guy took Joan to his house in order to meet his family in Reno, Nevada. Joan was welcomed to the town by his children, siblings, and grandson.

The golden bachelorette quickly felt at home as she recalled all her dates with Guy to his relatives.

The date ended on a mixed note as some family members shared concerns about Guy ending up heartbroken. As Joan was about to leave, Guy became emotional and admitted to having “fallen for” her.

Joan later traveled to Chicago, where two of her suitors lived. She first met with Pascal, who made plans for her in the city. Pascal showed off the self-owned salon and gave her the "VIP" treatment as the employees took care of her.

After reaching Pascal's home, his daughter Natalie told Joan that Pascal was happier than ever after meeting her.

Staying in Chicago, Joan met up with Jordan Heller with whom she wanted to spend some time as their relationship had built up at a “slower” pace.

After a cake date, the two met Jordan's family on The Golden Bachelorette. Despite the quality time, Joan confessed that she was still confused about their relationship status.

The last remaining hometown was that of Wichita, Kansas where Chock Chapple lived. The latter expressed his sadness about Joan not being able to meet his mother as she had passed away.

Joan joined the rest of the family as they paid tribute to Chock's mother by planting a tree in his mother’s honor.

During this union, Chock's late fiancee's father was also present who told Joan that she was family if she wanted to be. Chock's own father advised his son to not put his guard up as he could see love in his eyes.

Joan would have to decide between the four men to eliminate and take only three suitors to the finale of The Golden Bachelorette. She noted that Chock and Guy seemed committed to her while she was unsure about Pascal and Jordan.

This led to Joan deciding to eliminate Jordan and announcing that she and the three suitors would be traveling to Tahiti.
