The Later Daters episode 5 brought more heartfelt moments as the series delved into the romantic journeys of its participants. Released on November 29, this Netflix docuseries, executive-produced by Michelle Obama, showcases singles in their 50s, 60s, and 70s exploring love and relationships.

Guided by dating coach Logan Ury and supported by family and friends, the participants embark on blind dates, navigating emotional hurdles and seeking meaningful connections.

This episode of The Later Daters featured an insightful conversation between Jackie and Nate about their past relationship, Dwayna selecting a potential suitor for Anise, and Nate enjoying a promising date with Michelle. Each storyline highlighted the joys and challenges of dating at an older age, with Logan Ury offering practical advice along the way.

The Later Daters: Jackie and Nate reflect on their relationship

Jackie visited Nate to discuss their relationship history and his recent dating experiences. Reflecting on why they were no longer together, Jackie explained,

"When I first met you with the dimples, I wasn't looking for a relationship. I was looking for a hookup. And that's what I got. That’s what we both got."

Nate shared his feelings with the interviewer, stating,

"Part of the real is, we're more like brothers and sisters because she gets on my nerves sometimes, and I get on hers sometimes."

When asked about his recent date, Nate described Lisa, the woman he met, as “pretty cool” but expressed reservations about her family dynamics, particularly her adult children living at home. Jackie reacted to this, quipping, “You'd prefer an empty nest,” to which Nate agreed.

Nate’s date with Michelle

Nate’s date with Michelle stood out as a highlight of the episode. They began the evening with light-hearted exchanges, with Nate surprising Michelle with flowers and stating, “Your beauty captured me so much. I forgot the flowers.” Michelle responded, saying, “You get a couple of points.”

Their shared military backgrounds further deepened the connection. Nate, a 10-year Army veteran, was impressed by Michelle’s service as well. Michelle recounted her decision to join food service:

"I was like, I'm not dealing with dead people. So I did food service when I first went in."

The pair bonded over their lively personalities but shared playful disagreements, such as their differing tastes in football teams and guacamole. Despite these minor differences, they enjoyed the date, with Nate describing it as “probably the number-one date” and Michelle expressing her interest in a second date, though cautiously noting, “It’s too soon to tell.”

“Shiver me timbers, yes. All things, yes.”

Anise, curious but unable to see the photos, joked about nudging Dwayna to steer her choice.
