The Masked Singer season 12 episode 2 premiered on October 2, on FOX. In this reality singing show, celebrities use their vocal skills to compete against each other. However, their identity is hidden from the audience and the panelists.

On The Masked Singer season 12, episode 2, titled Footloose Night, featured contestants Showbird, The Ship, Woodpecker, and Buffalos performing songs from the Footloose movie. Showbird received the fewest votes and was unmasked. Ken Jeong guessed correctly for the second time this season—Showbird was Yvette Nicole Brown.

Showbird

In The Masked Singer season 12, episode 2, Showbird began the episode with a clue package. She mentioned that when given the chance to perform, she gave it her all, and shared that a love interest helped her start singing. Her visual clues included binoculars, colorful diamond rings, and a purple cupcake.

Showbird sang Let’s Hear It For the Boy by Deniece Williams. After her performance, the last clue was a music box with a hip-hop track behind it. Showbird reacted that this was her vibe and back in ’94 she was "part of a hip-hop empire!”

The panelist announced their guesses for Showbird. Ken Jeong - Yvette Nicole Brown, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg - Taraji P. Henson, and Rita Ora - Sheila E.

The Ship

The Ship was next and in their clue package they stated that during their high school years, she was a "star cheerleader, class president, and was even voted prom queen." However, a leg injury had placed her on the bench for a year and it led her to play piano and embrace music.

Their visual clues included; a black crow sitting on her piano, a boot cast, white cowboy boots, and a red heart.

The Ship sang Almost Paradise by Mike Reno & Ann Wilson. After the performance, Jenny deemed The Masked Singer season 12 contestant “the frontrunner” of this competition. The panelist announced their guesses for The Ship. Ken - Sheryl Crow, Robin Thicke - Amy Grant, and Rita - Kate Bush.

Woodpecker

In her clue package, Woodpecker hinted that she was a child star and had to grow in front of people. She had to deal with people judging her and telling her what to do. Her visual clues included; Shimmering heels, a director’s chair, a briefcase, and a rubber ducky.

Woodpecker sang Holding Out For a Hero by Bonnie Tyler. The panelist announced their guesses for Woodpecker. Ken - Willow Smith, Jenny - Regina King, and Rita - Letitia Wright.

The Buffalos

The Buffalos gave the final performance of the night. In their clue package, the group shared that they each are rebels in their own ways. People think they are "corny", however, the group The Masked Singer season 12 contestants see themselves as "funny" and "rich"

Their visual clues included; beer mugs, a cactus, poker chips, and a black bottle marked “Poison.”

The Buffalos sang Waiting For a Girl Like You by Foreigner. The panelist announced their guesses for Woodpecker. Ken -Bell Biv DeVoe, Jenny - 112, and Robin - Rush.

Showbird received the least votes at the end of the night and Community star Yvette Nicole Brown was the person behind the mask.
