Netflix released the first five episodes of The Mole season 2 on Friday, June 28, 2024. The game show sees contestants working together through multiple challenges, while one of them is supposed to sabotage the teamwork as the mole. Ari Shapiro hosts the show, which has 12 contestants, 11 of whom are unaware of who the mole is.

The official synopsis of the first episode reads:

"For their first mission in Malaysia, players must keep intruders from taking their spot. Three people face a crucial choice before the elimination quiz."

The Mole season 2 features participants ranging from a forensic accountant to a software engineer and a retired undercover cop. The first episode, titled Nobody’s Safe, was released on Netflix on Friday, along with the next four episodes. It saw vast, lush green fields in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as the host, Ari Shapiro, introduced himself, expressing his excitement about hosting the show.

"I’m Ari Shapiro. I’ve reported from war zones and filed stories from Air Force One, but this is an assignment I’ve wanted for years. The Mole is back."

Contestants were seen in the tall grass fields, navigating their way toward their destination. Most players weren’t sure if they were going in the right direction or the correct path. As they reached the middle of the field, they were unaware of the five intruders who were hiding in the tall grass around them.

As they reached the center, Ari joined the contestants and explained the mission. They were supposed to pick a leader and make a plan to stop the five intruders from reaching the cars waiting for them just outside the field.

They were given the necessary equipment, including slingshots, sniper rifles with paintballs, and a monitoring system to determine the intruders' exact location. Before that, contestants were supposed to choose a leader to carry out the task. If they failed the task, the chosen leader would be eliminated and sent home. After a discussion, they agreed on Neesh as the leader.

They divided themselves into three teams, based on three zones, and they included:

• Zone 1: Two slingshots: Q and Muna, Sean and Hannah
• Zone 2: The tower: Andy, Melissa, and two more guys
• Zone 3: Jen, Ryan, Neesh and Deanna

The first challenge ended with Andy, Jen, Neesh, and Ryan hitting all the intruders. By the end of the first task, the pot prize was $30,000. They were then sent to the mansion to clean up and rest.

After freshening up, contestants noticed a phone booth outside the mansion's garden. Jess answered the phone and realized it was the host Ari on the other end, who told her about an elimination quiz.

"There will be an elimination quiz tonight, and whoever knows the least about the Mole will be going home," Ari said.

He also told Jess they all needed to discuss and find the three most trustworthy players. Each player will choose to help the group or help themselves. If they all choose the group, you’ll win $5000 towards the prize pot.

They all chose Muna, Deanna, and Tony. Later, when the phone rang, they were given a choice between money for the team or corrections for themselves.

While Deanna and Tony chose the first option, Muna chose the correction, i.e., a correction or benefit for herself. However, when she came out of the phone booth, she lied and told everyone that she also chose the money.

There was an elimination, and then the contestants were given individual systems to complete the test. It contained 20 questions about the Mole, and whoever got the most wrong answers would be eliminated.

The Mole season 2 episode 1 ended right before the elimination process could be completed. While nine players were declared safe, three were in danger, including Deanna, Jennifer, and Neesh. The first episode ended with a cliffhanger before the elimination could be declared.
