The much-awaited episodes 9 and 10 of The Mole season 2 finally premiered on Friday, July 12. After episode 8 left the show with five finalists, the start of episode 9 saw Deanna bid adieu, bringing the contestant pool down to four.

The four final contestants on The Mole went in for a robbery task at a museum in Malaysia. They first had to correctly identify the real art pieces and then rob them. During the retrieval mission, Michael was suspended from the ceiling, while Muna, Hannah, and Sean directed his body to the artifacts by pulling on ropes attached to pulleys.

They managed to retrieve only one of the two real vases, which added $24,000 to their prize pot, bringing the total to $129,000.

What was The Mole season 2 episode 9 Night at the Museum task?

The Mole season 2 episode 9 featured a task called "Night at the Museum," held at the Malaysian Townhouse situated in Penang. The task intensified as the player pool became smaller. The remaining four contestants were driven to the townhouse at night because it was a night robbery task.

While still at the villa, the host, Ari Shapiro, explained the rules. He said that they would have to carry out a robbery at the art museum. From the several vases scattered across the room, they have to identify the real ones from the fake ones.

To retrieve them, one of the four participants would be suspended from the ceiling, and the remaining three would position the hanging participant by pulling on ropes going through pulleys. This was because the floor had lasers that the participants couldn't cross, so suspension was the only option. There were two real artifacts in the bunch.

If they happened to knock off a vase, it would touch the lasers on the floor. Knocking off three vases would set off an alarm, ending their mission. Each broken artifact would cost them $2000. Each artifact retrieved would win them $30,000, which means if they successfully bring two artifacts safely without breaking anything, they could add up to $60,000 to their prize pot.

The contestants arrived at the spot for their challenge. They had one hour to bring out both artifacts. Hannah and Michael volunteered to get suspended from the pulley, and then everyone voted for Michael to be suspended. Muna, Hannah, and Sean pulled the ropes to control Michael's elevation and direction.

All the vases had symbols of similar monkeys, and the contestants took a bit to decipher how they differed. The tails of real monkeys were curled the other way, everything else was the same, which is why it was difficult to tell on the first go.

According to what Michael said, Sean directed him in such a way that his feet touched one of the artifacts, knocking it to the ground and setting off their first laser. Another one fell when he tried picking up a real artifact. The third vase also came down when Michael went to handle one.

The group was able to take back only one artifact on The Mole, which was revealed when they met Ari. So that brought them $30,000, and $6000 was subtracted from it because they broke three artifacts, costing $2000 each. So the total money they earned from the challenge was $24,000. This added to their existing pot, which totaled $129,000.

Both seasons 1 and 2 of The Mole are available to stream on Netflix.
