The Mole season 2 released two new episodes (episodes 9 and 10) on Friday, July 12. At the start of episode 9, six players remained in the competition; however, three contestants were evicted from the game show after a major turn of events and two shocking elimination quizzes.
In the first elimination quiz, castmates Ryan and Deanna were evicted, whereas Hannah had to leave the show after the second one toward the end of the episode. Sean, Michael, and Muna progressed to the finale, where the former was revealed to be the mole. Meanwhile, Michael emerged as the game show's winner, winning the entire prize pot of $154,000.
Three players were eliminated from The Mole season 2 episode 9
1) Ryan
Ryan's calm and composed demeanor caused many players to suspect her. In episode 9, it was revealed that she had the least information about the mole's identity, leading to her elimination. Viewers of the show were also suspicious of her motives since she allegedly had less screen time than the others.
In the dinner challenge in episode 4, Ryan was caught costing $10,000 from the prize fund when she replaced a chicken order with a vegetarian option. Apart from this, Ryan kept her gameplay concealed and wished to progress in the game as quickly as possible. In episode 6, she did not vote for Quaylyn's return, even though it would help them earn $20,000.
In episode 9, Ryan targeted Hannah as her primary suspect since she did not take the exemption card. However, when the results were announced, Ryan's phone screen turned red, and she was eliminated from the show.
Ryan burst into tears as she thought of the other players' reactions to her eviction. She could not internalize the fact that she had to leave the show. When Ari asked how she felt, she said:
"I'm kinda speechless. I think I'm gonna be more upset with myself than my family would be upset with me. To not be able to take it home to them is...it feels awful."
She confessed that although she thought she was calculative, she could not discover the saboteur's identity.
2) Deanna
The web sleuth Deanna was eliminated shortly after Ryan. Deanna had presented a rather fair gameplay in the show. She actively participated in the missions and worked toward earning cash for the prize fund. Rarely would she be suspected by her fellow teammates.
In episode 6, Sean did suspect her motives when she struggled to perform in the Cave Raid challenge. It required her to walk through tight spaces inside a cave with almost no visibility and through narrowly spaced creeks. He assumed she acted to be claustrophobic to sabotage the mission. However, Deanna overcame her fear and completed the challenge.
She was also considered a team player since she voted for Quaylyn's re-entry in episode 6. However, in episode 9, Deanna took the quiz and had the least number of correct answers about the mole's identity. She was eliminated when her phone screen turned red.
She was happy with how far she had come and all the things she had done that "50-year-olds don't normally do." Despite being an accomplished online investigator, she was surprised that she could not figure out who the saboteur was. She urged the players to trust no one before leaving.
"I am an investigator. I am very good at it. And I still don't know who the Mole is. They're doing a great job," said Deanna.
3) Hannah
Several players have suspected Hannah since the start of the show. Her choices and justifications made many doubt her motives. She had developed a romantic relationship with co-star Tony, who had also helped her win an exemption in episode 3 at the cost of a large amount of money from the prize fund.
The cast members assumed she manipulated Tony to her advantage. While speaking to the cameras, she confessed that she would do anything to win the game. As the show progressed, Hannah was seen actively participating in the challenges. In episode 9, she was allowed to win an exemption card for herself, however, she chose to add $20,000 to the prize fund instead of claiming the exemption.
After Ryan and Deanna's eliminations, the safe contestants participated in a mission called Night At The Museum where they had to demonstrate their robbery skills to earn money for the pot. Unimpressed by Muna and Michael's performances, Hannah divided her answers between the two in the next elimination quiz.
She was surprised when her phone screen turned red, marking the end of her journey on the show. While leaving the show, she revealed she was sad that the mole beat her.
"You know, it sucks, but I'm actually very proud of myself and the game that I played, and I'm just so happy that I gave it my all," said Hannah.
The Mole season 2 finale is currently streaming on Netflix.
