What happened in The Real Housewives of Potomac season 9 premiere?
A Crash Course In Deflection started with the cast receiving the news of Karen’s DUI. Ashely and Mia were worried about Karen as it was not the first time she was charged with DUI, and the events could result in Karen hurting herself emotionally. Gizelle also expressed her concerns while stating that she is not the same person as before.
It cuts to a month after the events, and Gizelle goes to pick up Karen for lunch to get two "Karen specials". Gizelle asked Karen about her case but the latter did not give anything away. Karen did concede that she was affected by personal trauma during that night as she had lost her parents recently.
Later, Mia and Gordon's past conflicts on The Real Housewives of Potomac were highlighted, when Mia accused Gordon of locking her in a room while Gordon accused her of having an affair. The two had started living in the same building afterward. Mia asked Gordon to take a paternity test as Inc. was not sure if Gordon was the father.
Ashley and Wendy were moving on to the next phase of their lives, as Ashley decided to move forward with the divorce process with Michael after two years of separation. Wendy, on the other hand, sent in her resignation letter as she planned to spend more time with her family.
Karen joined the new The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member to go dress shopping for the hattitude party. Stacey opened up to Karen about her recent divorce which prompted her to move back to Maryland. Later, Stacey poured some champagne for herself but looked concerned about Karen who assured her she would join in with a glass of water in her hand due to her medication.
Gizelle planned Karen’s birthday lunch with custom-made hats for each housewife. Wendy came to the party with an open mind and wanted to clear things out with Gizelle due to their conflict from the previous season, which Gizelle appreciated. Another new housewife, Jassi, was introduced as she came in with Mia.
Jacqueline wanted to kick things off with the first tea of the latest season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. She claimed that Karen sounded tipsy when they had a phone conversation recently but had no means to prove it. Karen arrived at the party and announced that she did not want "fake bi**hes" near her and wanted to know who her true friends were.
As everyone was given a hat with specific names and designs, like Karen got the "Hollywood", and Mia was given “The King” for playing around with two guys. Gizelle later asked Mia if she had shared Inc. with Jacqueline yet, which was taken in a lighthearted manner.
Karen and Gizelle could not help themselves from asking Mia about Gordon mentioning that their kids had seen Mia in bed with Inc. Wendy didn't like what the ladies had to say and so didn't Mia. She screamed that her kids were thriving and walked off the party.
The Real Housewives of Potomac airs every Sunday on Bravo TV and the next day on Peacock.
