The fourth episode of The Traitors UK season 3, which aired on January 8, 2025, delivered plenty of drama and twists. It saw three contestants leaving the show under surprising circumstances. After a shocking round-table banishment, Faithful contestant Kasim was sent home, leaving host Claudia Winkleman questioning the players' strategies, saying,

“What are you doing?”

Claudia’s intervention underscored the complexity of the game and the need for careful planning and alliances.

What happened in The Traitors UK season 3 episode 4

The episode began with the dramatic return of Alexander and Fozia to the main group after completing a mission in which they were trapped in a treetop cage. Meanwhile, Jack, who had left the game in the previous episode without being fully involved in the gameplay, did not return. The other contestants gathered at breakfast to learn who had been murdered the previous night.

The murder of Maia by Traitors Linda and Minha came after the previous night’s banishment of Maia’s sister, Armani. This move seemed to confirm the Traitors’ strategy of eliminating anyone who could be seen as a potential threat.

Maia had aligned herself with her sister, and after Armani’s banishment, it was clear to the Traitors that Maia was a loyal Faithful.

At the round table, suspicions ran high. Kasim, who had consistently defended his fellow players, found himself the center of attention. Despite his efforts to deflect suspicion and align with others, Kasim was ultimately voted out of the game.

He received the most votes, with seven of the remaining contestants choosing to banish him.

Who was banished in The Traitors UK?

Kasim, a 33-year-old doctor from Cambridge, left the game after being banished at the round table. Prior to his departure, Kasim had shared his enthusiasm for the game with BBC, explaining his decision to apply for The Traitors in the first place.

He admitted that he had initially applied for the second season of the show but had not been selected.

When the opportunity arose for season 3, he decided to try again, reflecting on his earlier application and how he could improve his chances. Kasim expressed that the unique challenge of the game appealed to him, particularly the opportunity to outwit other x contestants, saying,

"There has to be a degree of playing up your uselessness or being useful in the right way. I think there are advantages to looking like you’re switched off."

Kasim’s background as a doctor, where he was responsible for finalizing plans and making critical decisions, was something he believed would transfer well to the strategic elements of the show.

Kasim was open to both playing as a Faithful and a Traitor, recognizing the importance of adapting to the ever-changing dynamics of the game. However, his downfall came when the group wrongly identified him as a Traitor.

In his final moments in The Traitors UK, Kasim revealed that he was, in fact, a Faithful, catching the group off guard.

Who was murdered in The Traitors UK?

The Traitors targeted Maia in Episode 4, who had been left vulnerable after the banishment of her sister, Armani. Maia’s connection to Armani made her an obvious target, who believed she posed a threat to their plans. Maia, 25, is a full-time mum from Essex.

She wore a black top beneath a black jacket and entered the game with a strong competitive spirit. Maia had binge-watched the previous series of The Traitors and believed she could perform better by controlling her emotions and making sharper strategic decisions.

She expressed a desire to win the game’s money to support her family, saying,

"My daughter is going to nursery soon and that's expensive. It's like having a mortgage, so that was also a motivator."

Maia’s approach to the game was to act "dumb but not too dumb," making herself seem less of a threat while still being a solid team player during the missions.

However, after Armani’s banishment, the Traitors saw her as a liability and eliminated her in the next murder.
