Netflix's The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On Season 3 is reaching the final stage of the experiment. Episodes 9 and 10, premiering on December 18, will feature the final four couples making life-altering decisions.

The premise of the show revolves around one partner issuing an ultimatum for marriage or separation. Among the standout couples, are J.R. and Zaina. After three years together, Zaina issued an ultimatum, saying she needed J.R. to step into a new chapter as husband and wife, and hopefully parents to their future children.

However, J.R.’s reluctance stems from trust issues rooted in his first marriage, which ended in infidelity and divorce. Their experiment on The Ultimatum has tested their relationship in the show's unique format, as they embarked on trial marriages with new partners.

Zaina and J.R.’s journey on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On

Zaina and J.R.’s love story began after swiping right on a dating app. As time passed, Zaina felt that something was missing and issued an ultimatum to push J.R. toward marriage and starting a family.

However, J.R.’s past trauma created roadblocks. He struggled to fully commit, burdened by lingering trust issues. During the experiment, Zaina and J.R. temporarily split, embarking on trial marriages with new partners.

Zaina chose Scotty, who seemed to embody the qualities she believed J.R. lacked. Meanwhile, J.R. paired with Sandy, forming a connection built on chemistry and understanding.

The trial marriage experience

Zaina’s trial marriage with Scotty in The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On started on a promising note. He encouraged her to embrace vulnerability, while boosting her confidence about her potential as a wife and mother.

However, their bond was tested during a heated argument about a rumor regarding J.R.’s motives for joining the experiment. Despite their efforts to recover from the fallout, their trial marriage ended on a rocky note.

For J.R., his trial marriage with Sandy was marked by chemistry, as mentioned by the trial couple on multiple occasions. Their connection extended beyond physical attraction, and J.R. admitted that he could:

“absolutely see myself married to someone like Sandy.”

While their bond deepened, J.R. struggled with lingering insecurities about Sandy’s previous connection with her trial partner, Nick.

The changeover ceremony:

The changeover brought revelations for Zaina and J.R. Zaina was devastated to learn that J.R. and Sandy had kissed multiple times during their trial marriage.

While J.R. denied that anything further happened, the disclosure tested Zaina’s trust. Despite the tension, Zaina chose to move forward without harboring resentment as they returned to their original relationship for the final phase of the experiment. As the couple reconnected, Zaina expressed her hope for a future together.

“We just have to figure out if we’re ready to take that next step and do life together … or not,” she told J.R.

However, J.R.’s hesitations about commitment remained a significant hurdle, leaving their fate uncertain.

What to expect on Ultimatum Day

With Ultimatum Day approaching in episodes 9 and 10, the stakes are higher than ever for Zaina and J.R. The trailer for The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On teases a pivotal moment as the couple decides whether to take their relationship to the next level or part ways for good. Zaina remains optimistic about their future, stating in the trailer,

“I love J.R. so much. I just need him to see the bigger picture of how we can leave here together.”

However, J.R. was uncertain about his decision. He was seen talking to Sandy in the trailer of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On episode 9.

Fans can tune in on December 18 to witness the culmination of Zaina and J.R.'s journey on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On.
