The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On returned with its third season on December 4. Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the show brought together 6 couples, facing a critical juncture in their relationships. Each couple struggles with unique challenges, ranging from financial stress and career uncertainty to age differences and the pressure of biological clocks.

Despite their differences, they share a common goal: to break free from relationship limbo and decide whether to commit to marriage or go their separate ways. To achieve this, each participant will temporarily part ways with their partner and enter into a trial marriage with someone new.

The 6 couples participating in The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On are Zaina and J.R., Nick and Sandy, Mariah and Caleb, Scotty and Aria, Chanel and Micah, and Vanessa and Dave. The episode rollout schedule will be as follows: episodes 1-5 will be available from December 4, episodes 6-8 on December 11, and episodes 9-10 on December 18.

What happened in The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3 episode 1?

Hosts and married couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey brought the couples together for one last time before they had to break up to participate in the experiment of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. Zaina and J.R. were the first to introduce themselves. The couple began their relationship with a promising connection after matching on a dating app.

However, after nearly 3 years together, Zaina feels an unshakeable sense of emptiness. This feeling has prompted her to issue an ultimatum, urging J.R. to commit to a new stage in their relationship, one that involves marriage and potentially starting a family.

The second couple included Artist Nick, eager to take his relationship with Sandy to the next level. However, their 10-year age difference has recently become a significant source of tension. Nick's idea of enjoyment has evolved, whereas Sandy's preferences remain youthful and vibrant.

Their frequent disagreements only escalate the issue further and make it challenging for Nick to convince Sandy to settle down.

“My version of fun and her version of fun is a little different at this point. She’s still Coachella-ing,” said Nick.

Mariah, the youngest participant, issued an ultimatum to Caleb after two years of dating, feeling frustrated that they were not progressing toward her goals of marriage and starting a family. Caleb, however, wanted Mariah to slow down and enjoy her youth, fearing her rushed timeline may lead to future regret.

Aria and Scotty were the next couple who believed they had reached a critical point in their three-year relationship. Their demanding careers have been an issue for both, as they live in different areas. Despite these obstacles, Scotty felt he should commit to their future together. Aria though was hesitant to embark on a lifelong commitment.

Meanwhile, Vanessa and Dave's three-year relationship was at a standstill over marriage. Vanessa's eagerness to tie the knot had led her to issue an ultimatum, as she felt deserving of a partner who was fully committed.

Micah claimed that he referred to Chanel as his wife. But without a ring, the label felt empty to her. After two and a half years, Chanel has issued an ultimatum, after getting tired of that relationship limbo. Micah wanted to commit but was worried that it would interfere with Chanel's new marketing career.

As the couples said goodbye to their partners on The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, the now singles started speed dating each other to find their compatible partner. Chanel was unsure and felt weird about dating in front of her original partner, a sentiment that others shared with her.

"I always find myself thinking about my ex but still trying to stay in the moment," revealed Chanel.

After the speed dating, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On contestants started getting closer to the other partners during a cocktail party. This development led to feelings of jealousy among some contestants. Vanessa and Nick got close, which Vanessa's ex Dave didn't like. Also, J.R. and Sandy started getting comfortable with each other which Nick noticed through the corner of his eyes.
