What happened in The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On Season 3 Episode 7?
At the start of the episode, hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey welcomed the cast to "The Changeover," encouraging each participant to open up about their experience of living with someone new.
While reflecting on her trial marriage experience with Scotty, Zaina mentioned that their dynamic changed after guys' night. She noted that Scotty had become too suspicious of her connection with J.R. and often inquired about their communication. Scotty explained he was upset and let his emotions command his behavior.
Although The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On cast member was displeased by her "pettiness," he appreciated Zaina's qualities as a potential wife.
Caleb spoke next and reassured Aria that he had not participated in The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On to pursue anyone romantically other than his partner. He deemed their relationship a friendship and thanked Aria for letting him be himself. Meanwhile, Aria detailed the differences between Scotty and Caleb, praising the latter's patience and calm demeanor.
However, when Aria mentioned that they would have made a "great couple" had they been together, Mariah asked The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On female cast member if she had developed feelings stronger than friendship. Mariah felt uneasy when Aria revealed that she desired Caleb's traits, although she loved Scotty.
Tensions escalated when Zaina found out through Nick that J.R. and Sandy had kissed during their time together. Despite Nick and Zaina's discomfort, Sandy and J.R. complimented each other and confessed that their trial marriage felt real.
Soon, Sandy started crying recalling Nick's emotional outburst in Episode 5 when he showed up at her apartment in the middle of the night. She accused him of tormenting her throughout the experiment and said:
"You went from completely neglecting me to love-bombing me."
As "The Changeover" concluded, the original couples reunited to experience another trial marriage and reflect on their relationship.
After settling down, Nick apologized to Sandy for projecting his anxiety on her and lashing out at her for kissing J.R., despite knowing what they had signed up for. The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star reassured her that he would be mindful of his behavior.
Meanwhile, Aria sat down with Scotty to reflect on her trial partnership with Caleb. She stated that although she felt emotionally drawn to Caleb, there was no physical connection. With that said, she hoped Scotty would change his tone and be more gentle with her. Elsewhere, an insecure Mariah requested Caleb to elaborate on his relationship with Aria.
"Honestly, I feel like someone isn't being all that forthcoming or truthful," she said.
Despite Caleb's reassurances, Mariah remained unconvinced. Similar tensions troubled J.R. and Zaina's relationship after the latter discovered that J.R. had kissed Sandy not once but twice. Zaina feared J.R. had developed feelings for Sandy.
In another segment of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On Episode 5, Aria and Scotty discussed what was lacking in their relationship. Aria was caught off guard when her partner confessed that his connection with Zaina was romantic. However, at the same time, he disapproved of Aria's emotional connection with Caleb, convinced it was something more than just friendship.
"If you feel like the emotional connection I had with someone else bothers you to an extent where you don't want to propose anymore, like... that is on you," Aria said.
Elsewhere, Caleb expressed how exhausted he felt by Mariah's hyper-fixation with finding problems in him. He requested that she let go of the topic of Aria and talk about something else, however, Mariah disagreed and criticized her partner for making her look like the "bad guy."
While Sandy struggled to forgo her feelings for J.R., J.R. contemplated his next move, wondering if he was making the right choices. He acknowledged his feelings for Sandy, but at the same time, did not want to lose his "best girlfriend ever," Zaina.
While some couples found a middle ground, others struggled to communicate. One such pair was Caleb and Mariah, who hit a rough patch due to their lack of communication and understanding.
Later in the episode, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On couples gathered for a get-together to reflect on their experiences. The cast teased Nick and J.R. when they discovered they had the same tattoo.
In a private conversation with J.R., Sandy mentioned that she did not speak too deeply about their connection to Zaina because she wanted to "protect" her and not brag in her face. They encouraged each other to prioritize their needs instead of letting their fears control them.
"Zaina, we have that history, and she's shown up in so many ways, but Sandy and I both want the same things out of life. And I love that about her, and I can see her as a life partner," J.R. said.
The dynamic between Nick and Sandy changed after the former discovered that Sandy had kissed J.R. more than once. Consequently, he confronted her about the same, but Sandy defended herself by saying he had never asked her about it directly.
Towards the end of the episode, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star lost calm when Sandy confessed that she planned to tell him about the second kiss after filming.
