The Ultimatum: South Africa - Ruth and Isaac hint at new relationships during reunion special 

Netflix's The Ultimatum: South Africa wrapped up its first season on Friday, May 24, 2024. The cast returned to screens for a conversation with one of the hosts, Salamina, about their time on the show, as well as what happened after. The segment was filmed a year after the social experiment and the cast revealed whether they were still together or not.

During the season finale, Isaac didn't propose to Ruth and said that he felt that it was best for the both of them moving forward. In the reunion segment, the two opened up about their love lives.

Salamina asked Ruth if she was single and "ready to mingle" and the cast member said in Zulu that she was dating someone.

"I am in a relationship. Happily so," Ruth said.

The host then asked Isaac about his current relationship status and the cast member revealed that although he was single, there was another "pretty lady" who keeps "calling in." He added that they were in a space where they were talking and "bit by bit" they would see where it went.

Salamina asked the former couple if the people they were talking about were in the same city and both revealed that they were both in long-distance relationships individually.

Isaac was asked whether he had anything to say to his ex-girlfriend and he called her one of the smartest and strongest women he knew. Speaking about her career, he added that she persevered and that it was admirable.

"You know, you're just so wonderful, and keep being wonderful," he added.

Ruth calls Isaac a good person, notes he isn't good for her in The Ultimatum: South Africa reunion special

After Isaac, Ruth was also asked if she wanted to say anything to her ex-boyfriend during The Ultimatum: South Africa's reunion special. She wished him "nothing but the best," and said that she hoped that his growth would help with continue being a "good man."

"You're a good person, actually. You are a good person, just not good for me," Ruth added.

The host noted that The Ultimatum: South Africa couple found a different "happily ever after" and hoped they could use their learnings from the social experiment in their new relationships.

Ruth's on-screen connection with Nolla was also acknowledged during the segment. Nolla entered the show with his girlfriend Lebo and was paired up with Ruth, and the two developed a close bond. Nolla and Lebo broke up as he and Ruth slept together. During the reunion special, Salamina asked Nolla about his connection with the cast member.

The Ultimatum: South Africa cast member said that he came on the show with Lebo because she wanted him to work on himself and he believed he was going to do just that.

He said that Ruth and Lebo are different kinds of women and while he was with Ruth, he saw something different that he wanted in his own relationship. He said that he knew everyone would eventually find out about their physical relationship but wished he could have told Lebo himself while Ruth could have told Isaac herself.

The Ultimatum: South Africa cast member was asked if he wanted to say anything to Ruth and he thanked her for everything and the experience they had together.

"I thought she and I, we, uh, I don't have regrets, like going into the trial marriage with you because there are some things that I really learned more about myself and what I really wanted in a relationship," he said.
