The Voice season 26 episode 12 recap: Contestants battle for a place in the knockouts

The Voice season 26 episode 12 was released on NBC on November 11, 2024, and featured the premiere of the Knockouts phase. The coaching panel on this season of The Voice includes returning judges Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani, along with Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg. Apart from them, Sting and Jennifer Hudson joined the panel as special mentors to the contestants.

The latest episode saw each coach's team send three contestants to perform individually as they hoped to secure a spot in the next round. Each group of three performed one song each as the coaches made the decision to select one winner among them. The coaches also had one "Save" and one "Steal" option to retain one of their team members or acquire one from another team.

Each team presented three artists who competed in the next stage. Team Snoop featured Austyns Stancil, Christina Eagle, and Jake Tankersley. Team Reba showcased Adam Bohanan, Cassidy Lee, and Jaukeem Fortson. Team Gwen brought Camryn Brooks, Deon Jones, and Jose Luis to the stage, while Team Michael included Mark Shiiba, Nia Holloway, and Talia Grace.

While Sting mentored Teams Gwen and Snoop, Jennifer worked with Teams Reba and Michael, advising contestants on technique and performance strategies.


Team Snoop's knockouts in The Voice

Austyns Stancil opened with Dance with My Father, a song he dedicated to his late father. Snoop encouraged him to balance emotion with control to create a resonant performance. Next, Christina Eagle performed My Church by Maren Morris, embracing her vocal style and bringing energy to the stage of The Voice.

Snoop encouraged her to embrace her growl, adding depth to her delivery. Rounding out Team Snoop’s Knockouts, Jake Tankersley performed Going, Going, Gone by Luke Combs, showcasing his country sound and vocal range.

The coaches advised him to enhance his stage presence, suggesting that increased movement might add to his performance. Snoop ended up selecting Austyns as the winner and saved Christina. Meanwhile, Gwen stole Jake, ensuring that all three contestants remained in the competition.


Team Reba's knockouts in The Voice

Team Reba’s Knockouts brought a mix of soulful and versatile styles. Adam Bohanan opened with Colors by Black Pumas, connecting emotionally with the audience. Jennifer Hudson advised him to add a “dirty tone” to give his performance a more grounded feel in The Voice.

Cassidy Lee performed Bonnie Raitt's Love Me Like a Man, shifting from her rock background to explore blues, under Reba and Jennifer's guidance. Finally, 14-year-old Jaukeem Fortson performed God Only Knows, demonstrating impressive vocal control and poise.

Reba acknowledged his potential, pointing out his room for growth as he progressed. Reba ultimately selected Adam to advance, while Michael Bublé saved Jaukeem, ensuring both would continue in the competition.


Team Gwen's knockouts in The Voice

Camryn Brooks performed Glitter in the Air by Pink, aiming to connect with the audience during the Knockouts round. Gwen encouraged her to use facial expressions to enhance the song’s impact. Deon Jones followed with Nutbush City Limits by Tina Turner, bringing energy and movement to the stage. Sting and Gwen suggested he control his pace to maintain steady vocal delivery.

Lastly, Jose Luis performed We Can’t Be Friends, blending a strong chest voice with a smooth falsetto. Sting and Gwen encouraged him to engage more with the audience and work on delivering his personality. Ultimately, Gwen selected Jose to advance to the next round while Camryn and Deon were eliminated.


Team Michael's knockouts in The Voice

Mark Shiiba performed When We Were Young by Adele, focusing on his vocal control and emotional depth. Nia Holloway followed with Un-Break My Heart by Toni Braxton, showcasing her tone and range.

Michael and Jennifer advised her to work on dynamics to add impact. Rounding out Team Michael, Talia Grace performed If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys, demonstrating her vocal flexibility and stage presence. Ultimately, Michael selected Mark as the winner and saved Nia, while Talia exited the competition.
