The Voice season 26 continues with blind auditions as new judges Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg join returning mentors Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani. Hosted by Carson Daly, this season gives a glimpse into the audition process and how each coach forms their team to compete.
After the auditions, the judges decide whether the artist will head into the next round or not. This time they also have a coach replay button, alongside the option to block their fellow mentors on the judge panel.
The coach replay button gives each judge an option to press the buzzer after they have met the artist. If they feel the contestant deserves to be on the stage and compete, they can press the buzzer and include them in the competition.
In The Voice season 26 episode 2, one of the judges, Reba was blocked by mentor Michale. Snoop, on the other hand, had a change of heart and decided to use his replay button to make Gail Bliss part of the next round.
The Voice season 26 episode 2, titled The Blind Auditions Part 2, was released exclusively on NBC on September 30, 2024. The episode synopsis reads:
"Coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani all vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon on the second night of blind auditions."
The Voice season 26 episode 2 - Snoop Dogg convinces Dreion to become part of his team
On The Voice season 26 episode 2, one of the main highlights was 27-year-old Dreion's audition. The Omaha, Nebraska native covered Shining Star by Earth Wind, and Fire and showcased his singing abilities on stage. His energetic stage presence and high notes impressed all four judges, and he received a four-chair turn.
Out of the four mentors, Snoop was trying to convince Dreion to become a part of his team. Reba said that the performance was unexpected as well as "entertaining." He reassured the participating contestants to provide assistance throughout the singing competition. Dreion was convinced and chose Snoop as his mentor.
For the next The Voice performance, Reba was blocked by Michael. 20-year-old Mor Ilderton expressed his raw emotions and authenticity by singing Coal by Dylan Gossett. Despite not having much experience in singing, Michael and Snoop were impressed by his vocal range and ability to grasp the audience's attention.
When Reba pressed the buzzer, she realized she had already been blocked. Morn ended up picking Team Buble to improve his singing skills further and find his own style while performing. Another main highlight in this episode was 61-year-old Gail Bliss' audition.
Her confidence was radiating on the stage and shocked the audience with his unique voice. Unfortunately, Gail didn't receive any chair turns until Snoop decided to use the coach replay button. After the judges met Gail, The Voice mentor realized he was making a mistake in letting a talented artist go.
The episode ended with 34-year-old Austyns Stancil's audition who covered Ooo Baby Baby by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. Austyns also ended up receiving four chair turns but he chose Team Gwen to help him in his journey and guide him through each step.
