The Voice season 26 live finale 2 recap: Top 5 perform duets with coaches as the winner is revealed

The finale episode of The Voice aired on Tuesday, December 10, at 9 pm ET/PT, bringing the highly anticipated competition to its conclusion. The episode featured performances by various celebrities which included former coach Sting, Kelly Clarkson, Myles Smith, Tears For Fears, and Dan+Shay.

In last week's semi-final episode, viewer votes determined the top five finalists, with Danny Joseph securing his spot through a smackdown round. The coaches, Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, and Snoop Dogg, each had contestants representing them in the finale, including Sofronio Vasquez, Sydney Sterlace, Jeremy Beloate, Shye, and Danny Joseph.

The finale episode of The Voice saw the top 8 contestants reunited for a special group performance inspired by the movie, Wicked, while the top 5 finalists performed with their respective coaches. Ultimately, the winner of The Voice was revealed to be Sofronio Vasquez.


What happened in The Voice season 26 live finale 2?

The show opened with the Top 8 artists performing a rendition of Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked, which is currently running in theaters and features former The Voice coach Ariana Grande. Semi-finalists and guest performers Jan Dan, Adam Bohanan, and Christina Eagle joined the 5 finalists to perform the song.

Following a video montage showcasing the finalists' conversations with their coaches, the atmosphere shifts to a festive tone. The finalists light Christmas candles and share reflections on their journey in The Voice so far. Dan + Shay made their return to the show for the first time since their coaching stint last season, as they performed It's Officially Christmas.

A video segment showcased Sydney Sterlace and her coach Gwen Stefani discussing their upcoming live performance. Gwen encouraged Sydney to explore songwriting. Sydney and Gwen then took the stage to perform a duet of Cat Stevens' classic hit Wild World.

Myles Smith made his debut on the reality show, taking center stage to perform his single Stargazing. Later, Jeremy Beloate and his coach Snoop Dogg discussed their unlikely yet successful partnership.

Jeremy revealed he had lost 20 pounds leading up to the finale. Snoop shared a personal loss of his own, having recently suffered the loss of his brother. The duo then performed a rendition of Otis Redding's classic song Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.

Huntley, the winner of Team Niall from season 24, made a return to the stage, performing his song Skyline Drive. After that performance, Riley Green and Ella Langley joined forces for a second time, delivering a duet of Don't Mind If I Do. Shye and her coach Michael Buble later took the stage to perform a duet of Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra's song Something Stupid.

Later, Snoop Dogg and Sting came to The Voice stage to perform as they collaborated on a new song titled Another Part of Me. The track samples The Police's song Message in a Bottle and is featured on Snoop's upcoming album Missionary, set to release on Friday.

Danny Joseph and his coach Reba McEntire soon followed as they shared a warm conversation about their families and Danny's guitar-playing skills. They then teamed up for a performance of Ray Charles' classic You Don't Know Me, a song also previously covered by Michael Buble on one of his albums.

Kelly Clarkson, the inaugural American Idol winner and former The Voice coach took the stage to perform her new holiday single You for Christmas. The final coaches' duet featured Sofronio Vasquez and Michael Buble, who delivered a performance of Who's Loving You, a classic originally by The Miracles and later covered by The Jackson 5.

The evening's entertainment continued with Tears for Fears, who performed their song, Everybody Wants to Rule the World and The Girl That I Call Home. Additionally, Asher Havon took the stage to debut his new single, Thank You. As the night drew to a close, host Carson Daly announced the competition results, revealing the winners from fifth place to first.

Jeremy Beloate from Team Snoop secured fifth place, followed by Danny Joseph from Team Reba in fourth. Sydney Sterlace from Team Gwen took third place, and Shye from Team Buble was announced as the runner-up. Ultimately, Sofronio Vasquez from Team Buble was crowned the winner of the competition.
