The Golden Bachelorette premiered on September 18, 2024, with Joan Vassos hoping to find a partner for life. The show follows 2023's The Golden Bachelor which featured Gerry Turner as the bachelor, which Joan was a part of but sadly had to leave due to a family emergency.
Episode 3 of The Golden Bachelorette saw three people being eliminated from the show as Joan decided to give roses to the rest of the contestants. Among those three contestants was Gregg Lassen, a Florida resident, and retired university president who connected with Joan on the first night as they found a common ground when they declared their love for beaches.
In an October 4, 2024 interview, Gregg talked about what went wrong within the show as he tried to form a connection with Joan. Praising the 23 other men on the show, Gregg suggested that Joan might have been interested in other eligible bachelors over himself, despite having a lot of common things on paper.
"It was very clear to me very quickly that there were other men that she was more interested in, and honestly, that was fine. I'm in love with half of the guys in the house, so when she was dating other people, I was like, 'Well, that's one of my new best friends.' So I was just happy for them," stated Gregg.
The Golden Bachelorette episode 3 eliminations meant that there are 11 men remaining on the show who are vying for the attention of the titular Joan Vassos.
Gregg would sleep in the rose ceremony room on The Golden Bachelorette
Gregg recalled a fun incident that took place on the sets of The Golden Bachelorette when another contestant on the show, Pascal, hit Gregg with a pillow so that the latter stopped snoring. Greg revealed that Pascal was very different from people he would normally meet up with or are his friends, and on the first night, both connected as they found themselves talking the entire night.
This resulted in the bachelors retiring to the bed and Gregg's snoring, which he claims only happens when he is tired. Gregg later volunteered to go downstairs as Pascal hit him with a pillow to stop the snoring. Since Jack claimed the sofa downstairs, Gregg used to sleep in the rose ceremony room since day one after chatting with the boys.
Talking about the boys, Gregg also recalled the time when Pascal offered up money in exchange for doing his laundry on The Golden Bachelorette. Gregg revealed that his roommate, Pascal was afraid of staying alone and doing his own work like laundry, unlike Gregg who loves to travel and even stayed in France for a while.
Since their room was next to the laundry room, Gregg initially volunteered to do Pascal, Dan, and CK's clothes as he had lots of his own clothes to wash.
"I asked all three of them. I'm like, 'Dan, CK, Pascal, I'm about to do a load of wash. Just give me your stuff and I'll put it in there,'" said Gregg.
Gregg later revealed that he was afraid to wash Pascal's clothes because they were on the expensive side. He later asked Pascal what would he "get out of this?" to which Pascal jokingly replied that he would pay him $100.
After his exit, Gregg plans to visit Pascal, Jack, and Jordan in Chicago as they had invited him. During the journey, the four became close as they connected through different aspects. Gregg revealed that he and Jordan are fraternity brothers, albeit in different universities. Gregg studied at the University of Wisconsin while Jordan was at the University of Iowa.
