TLC's show Sister Wives has been on air since September 2010, and follows the lives of Kody Brown and his family. Kody is currently only married to Robyn, but he had three wives previously, Meri, Janelle, and Christine. Sister Wives focused on the lives of the Brown family when Kody lived with his four wives and their children. The TLC show covers their family dynamics and various milestones.
Sister Wives season 19 premiered on the channel on September 15, 2024, and saw Kody's reaction to seeing his wife Christine for the first time after their divorce. In the premiere episode, Kody said that seeing the animosity between them was "very childish."

The eventful baby sprinkle
Season 19 of Sister Wives saw an important gathering where Kody and Christine met each other for the first time after their split. They were both in attendance at their daughter Mykelti Padron and her husband Tony's "Vegas-style" baby sprinkle, as the couple is expecting twins.
Christine organized the event and invited Kody and Robyn as well since they had a close bond with Mykelti. Christine had also invited Janelle Brown, but she was unable to attend the event.
Christine expressed her willingness to put aside personal differences for her daughter's sake. She added that she would "do anything for Mykelti," who wanted Kody and Robyn at her sprinkle. Although she was ready to invite them, Christine did admit to feeling nervous about the potential awkwardness.
"I'm pretty sure this is the first time I'll be seeing them after I left. I mean, Kody was furious the last time that he spoke to me, and we haven't talked since," she said.
Kody and Robyn's preparations
Kody also shared his mixed emotions about the upcoming encounter. While he was happy to be a part of his daughter's celebration, he acknowledged the complexity of the situation. Both Kody and Robyn felt "terribly nervous" about seeing Christine.
Kody stated that he couldn't fake his feelings and that there was a lot of animosity between them. Stating that it was something that embarrassed him, Kody added that he thought it "is all very childish."
Robyn also expressed similar anxiety about the gathering. She said that she was nervous about going to the shower because the last time she saw Christine, the latter had told her that she didn't want a relationship with Robyn and her kids.
The awkward encounter
During the baby sprinkle, Christine humorously suggested that guests could "take our bets" on whether she and Kody would get along. Kody and Robyn kept their distance from Christine throughout the event.
Robyn explained that she couldn't speak for her husband and his ex-wife but added that she kept her distance and "did not greet Christine," noting that she didn't want to "push myself on her."
"I want to have any relationship that I can have, but it takes two."
The 52-year-old noticed their efforts to avoid her. Explaining that doing so "would be disingenuous," she said that she wasn't "going to necessarily say hi," as that would mean she was going to be "friends and friendly," which she clarified that she wasn't.
Christine observed the dynamics at play and noted that when she saw Kody and Robyn, she realized that it was probably "more awkward for them." She claimed that this was because they were the outsiders in the situation, and not her.
"I just don't want to talk to her. I don't want to see her. She doesn't want to see me, I'm sure, either," Kody said.
Kody also reflected on the difficulties he has faced following his separations from Meri and Janelle, which happened not long after Christine left him. He acknowledged that Christine seemed to be in a good place since she moved out and moved on.
However, he said that he and Robyn were facing some challenges. In a confessional on Sister Wives, Kody said that the two were "kind of in a struggling place."

Christine acknowledged that future encounters with Kody and Robyn were unavoidable. Noting the inevitability of their interactions, especially with Robyn planning to be present at the birth of the twins, she acknowledged that the two Sister Wives cast members will "have to be in the same space sometimes."
"We're just going to have to be in the same space sometimes...And for sure, Robyn's going to be at the birth of the twins too...This is just what it is. We're just going to be in the same space."
