Love is Blind Habibi was a reality show where single people from different backgrounds got engaged before seeing their partner in person. Asma fell in love with Khatab in the pods during season 1. They took their relationship to the next level when they met in person to continue their journey. Asma was ready to move forward, but her family wasn't sure how to react. Love Is Blind Habibi is the Arabic spin-off of the original American version, Love Is Blind.

In episode 8 of Love is Blind Habibi, Asma and her sister Nihal shopped for a wedding dress. However, her joy was tinged with sadness because her parents were notably absent from this milestone. In a confessional, Asma revealed

"My parents are still thinking about it. They're overwhelmed by the idea. They're not on board with what happened. I want to give them the space to think."

In the same confessional, she expressed optimism, saying that although her parents weren’t supportive yet, she believed they would eventually be happy with her decision by the time of the wedding.

Sisterly support for Asma in Love is Blind Habibi

Asma’s sister, Nihal, provided emotional support throughout the wedding preparations in Love is Blind Habibi. Nihal joined her during wedding dress shopping and expressed her love and loyalty. She said,

"Asma and I, we're not just sisters. We're best friends. So, I would have never missed something like this. I had to be there, regardless."

Asma was excited about her upcoming wedding and said it was the day she had always looked forward to. While she hoped her parents would eventually support her decision, Nihal’s presence offered her comfort.

Despite the uncertainty, Asma continued preparing for the wedding, hoping that her parents would come around by the time of the ceremony in Love is Blind Habibi.

Asma’s decision to say no at the altar in Love is Blind Habibi

On their wedding day in the show, Asma decided not to marry Khatab, not because of a lack of love but because her parents had not yet accepted their relationship. In a conversation with Khatab, Asma explained that her decision was not about him but rather her desire to have her parents’ approval before moving forward with the marriage.

She expressed that while she cared deeply for Khatab, but her respect for her parents’ views meant she could not proceed without their consent. Khatab understood her point of view and acknowledged the importance of their families’ involvement.

Khatab, showing his commitment to Asma and their future, suggested they take the time to meet with her parents and seek their approval. Asma asked him to travel to Canada to speak with her father personally and ask for his blessing. Recognizing the significance of this gesture in their relationship, she said:

"Dad will feel you're serious about this and that you came all the way and actually want this, and he'll love you."

This decision to wait for parental consent reflected the couple’s recognition of the importance of family traditions in their relationship and their approach to building a future together.
