In Young, Famous & African season 3, episode 7, titled Something's Cooking, Luis invited Ini and Shakib to assist him in selecting a surrogate by interviewing potential candidates. However, the scenario quickly turned tense when Ini voiced her discomfort, stating her own emotional and physical challenges during IVF treatments. This conversation continued in episode 8.

In a confessional, Ini expressed,

"Women are... they're not toys; they’re not balloons that should carry children for anybody."

She explained that the process felt deeply disrespectful, and despite Luis’ insistence that he meant no harm, their conversation escalated into a heated argument. Ini openly questioned Luis’s approach, declaring her desire to leave, which Luis approved abruptly.

Ini shared her feelings with Swanky, who later confronted Luis at Nadia’s beach party about the alleged disrespect shown towards Ini, bringing the matter to the attention of the group. The situation escalated further when Luis asked if Ini was "done," prompting her to challenge his tone. She firmly stated that he had no right to speak to her in such a manner.

Conversation over surrogacy draws attention among the cast of Young, Famous & African

Luis’ decision to involve Ini and Shakib in his surrogacy discussions led to differing opinions among the cast. At Nadia’s beach party, Swanky addressed Luis regarding his tone during the interaction with Ini, which he perceived as disrespectful.

Shakib, who was present during the incident, explained to the group that Luis had intended for Ini and him to provide support and share their perspectives on the matter. He also apologized to Ini on behalf of both Luis and himelf, clarifying that the women involved were part of a discussion and not being “auditioned.”

"To me, they were just women that are attracted to him," Shakib remarked.

Swanky, visibly displeased with the comment, responded, "Just women? Shakib." In a confessional, Shakib expressed confusion over Swanky’s reaction, stating he didn’t understand why Swanky was "so mad." Ini then shared her thoughts, stating that while Luis’ decisions were his "business," if he sought her opinion, she would share it honestly.

"I felt this is not right. I shouldn't be sitting here," she explained.

Ini shared her perspective with the group, explaining how the experience made her uncomfortable due to her personal journey with IVF, in this episode of Young, Famous & African.

"You bring me out here and want me to choose amongst girls you're parading. As a woman with my journey, I felt like this is not right," she explained.

Nadia questioned the process, expressing concern about whether sufficient care was taken to understand the emotional and mental well-being of the women involved. Fantana also commented on Luis’ tone during the interaction, supporting Ini’s perspective in the discussion.

Luis reflects and apologizes in episode 8 of Young, Famous & African

In episode 8 of Young, Famous & African, Luis attempted to clear the air, acknowledging Ini’s concerns in a confessional. He revealed that he had not fully understood the extent of Ini’s personal experiences with IVF and surrogacy.

"I'm now discovering that the process that she went through during her surrogacy was extreme. I feel worse because that wasn't my intention," Luis admitted.

He expressed regret for unintentionally hurting her, and explained that he had invited her as a trusted confidant, comparing her to a sister. Despite Luis’ apology, Ini remained firm in her stance, stating that the incident reinforced the need for sensitivity and respect in conversations about surrogacy.
