Love is Blind: Mexico released episodes 5-8 on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Five couples entered the new phase of the experiment, which required them to live together and meet each other's family and friends. It was an opportunity for all couples to get closer to their partners and decipher if they were compatible enough to imagine a future together.
The five couples were Karen and Fernando, Fernanda and Gerardo, Willy and Francesca, Silvia and Chema, and Irais and Rene. Saul and Leti broke up after they returned from their honeymoon in Tulum, and were replaced by Irais and Rene who reunited after parting ways.
In episode 6, Karen met with Fernando's mother, Silvia. Their conversation went well until Silvia realized Karen was a mother. Her concerns for Fernando's future started showing after she made the discovery.
"This is a package deal. I hope your [Karen's] little girl accepts him, because it is complicated, you know?" said Silvia.
She feared that as someone new, Fernando might not be welcomed into Karen's family unit. Her worries escalated when the Love is Blind: Mexico star revealed she would sever ties with Fernando if her daughter disapproved of him. Despite everything, Karen reassured Silvia that everything would turn out well because her daughter was understanding.
Love is Blind: Mexico star Karen says her daughter is her priority
When Karen met Fernando in the pods, she revealed she had an 11-year-old daughter named Emi. However, it did not dissuade Fernando from pursuing Karen. In episode 6, as Karen prepared to meet Fernando's mother, she felt her nerves building up. She wondered how she would react to the news.
Upon meeting the Love is Blind: Mexico star, Fernando's mother Silvia complimented her on her appearance. Once they started chatting, she admitted she did not know about Fernando's participation in the experiment. The show's unique concept seemed "strange" to her and added to her concerns.
"I didn't know he was doing this. I will admit I was shocked. I find it a little strange that he's only two or three weeks away from getting married. I have mixed feelings," said Silvia.
Although the situation was "complicated" for her, Silvia claimed she would be happy if Fernando would be too. She added that she was a "respectful" woman and was aware of her "boundaries," implying that she would not invade their privacy to try and impose her principles on them.
"I'm not someone who gets involved in other people's business. Not me," said Silvia.
Silvia mentioned that Fernando was the love of her life, and if Karen loved him wholeheartedly, she would inevitably earn Silvia's love.
Soon, the Love is Blind: Mexico cast member revealed to Silvia that she had a daughter, whose father played an active role in her life.
"She's 11 years old, and she has a father who's very present. He's always there for her. I get along very well with him and his wife. The whole family situation in that regard is very good," said Karen.
While speaking to the cameras, Silvia confessed she had to discuss the matter with Fernando to ensure he understood everything. She noted he needed to be "very mature" while deciding on his future.
Silvia told Karen that her family equation worried her because as a lawyer, she had seen multiple cases where things did not turn out as anticipated. When asked how she would tackle the situation if Emi disliked Fernando, Karen said:
"Well, then, I do think I'd have to walk away. Because my priority is my daughter and I won't do anything to hurt her. Never."
At the same time, the Love is Blind: Mexico star reassured Silvia that "everything would turn out well" because Emi was a "mindful, sensitive, intelligent" person who wanted her mother's happiness above everything else. She also stated that as a woman, she had "to be happy first" to be a "fulfilled and happy mom."
The Love is Blind: Mexico cast member confessed Fernando and she had already started planning their future together. She considered him to be a crucial addition to her life.
"My initial impression of Karen? Well, she seems very nice, very sweet, very calm and that puts me at ease," said Silvia.
Love is Blind: Mexico will return with episodes 9-10 on Netflix on August 15, 2024.
