In episode 6, Irais' family met Rene for the first time. Irais' mother, who thought the experiment was a "strange" concept, said:
"This is all so strange to me. Back in my day, it was about meeting someone, building a relationship, and then getting married. So, for me, this is all new."
Rene agreed that the concept was unfamiliar, but he reassured her that his feelings for her daughter were genuine. The Love is Blind: Mexico couple connected in the pods, bonding romantically without seeing each other. During one of their dates, Rene proposed to Irais, and the couple later got engaged.
Love is Blind: Mexico star Rene felt nervous about meeting Irais' family
Irais' mother, Maria, visited the Love is Blind: Mexico couple, with Irais' siblings Emanuel, Gizem, and Daian. She seemed eager to meet her daughter's fiance and hoped he stood up to her expectations because she did not want her daughter to get hurt anymore.
"My daughter has a brave soul. She went through a very traumatic event in her past relationship. She could've closed herself off, but she is giving love another chance," said Maria.
After hugging Rene, Maria asked him how he felt about meeting Irais' family, to which he replied, he felt "nervous" and "stressed." Irais added she had never seen him so anxious.
After they started chatting, Maria told Rene she came from a "traditional" family which was why the experiment in the pods seemed "odd" to her.
"We are a very traditional family. Of course, I've already told her my feelings about the experiment, but I'll never understand meeting someone and falling in love after only hearing their voice. It's a bit odd if you ask me," said Maria.
Rene agreed that the experiment was unconventional, but he was "ready for the challenge," to face everyday life and overcome the hurdles as they came each day. He reassured her that he and Irais would work as a "team" and tackle the hardships.
Maria pointed out that they were a "tight-knit family," who were always together "through thick and thin." She hoped that Rene would care for Irais' brother, a person with disabilities.
The Love is Blind: Mexico couple cooked dinner for the family members and discussed various subjects, while at the dining table. Rene interacted with Irais' sisters, Daian and Gizem. Together they talked about school and their favorite subjects.
"I like Rene a lot. I hope he'll be with my sister through good and bad times, and that he never mistreats her," said Gizem.
Irais reassured her family members that since Rene was a doctor he would not have "an issue" bonding with her brother, Emanuel. She knew he would be attentive to his demands and needs. His profession motivated Daian to trust him even more.
"The fact that Rene is a doctor gives me a sense of security. Not just because of my brother, but for everyone's sake, knowing that if someone happens we can count on him," said Daian.
The Love is Blind: Mexico cast member confessed he would look after Irais' brother and claimed it would help them grow stronger as a family. While speaking to the cameras, Irais mentioned that most people did not understand how to act around Emanuel, but Rene was different. He treated him like her other siblings.
Maria commended Rene and hoped they found happiness together.
Love is Blind: Mexico is currently streaming on Netflix.
