"As the new players arrive at the villa, they can barely keep their hands off each other — and a surprise new twist means that they don't have to."
What happened on Too Hot To Handle season 6 episode 1?
Too Hot to Handle season 6 episode 1 introduced the players entering the villa to the audience. All cast members met each other and told the cameras what their plans were for ending this show. During their confessional interviews, the players mentioned what their strategy might be, what they are looking forward to doing the most, and what their expectations from the game are. One of the players, Katherine, introduced herself as:
"When people first meet me, they think that I'm a complete bitch. Then they're like, 'Oh wow, you're like, really goofy.' My life has been a never-ending hot girl summer, hot men, sunshine, and a few appointments. My girlfriends nominated me for this retreat because they think Lana could tame me, but no one can tame me!"
Later in the episode, when everyone settled in, all the players were shocked to see a strange-looking Lana. One of them pointed out that Lana's color had changed from purple to black and red. This was Bad Lana, a clone of Lana who gave access to all contestants to do whatever they wished to. She allowed every participant to follow their hearts without any restrictions or rules.
The Too Hot to Handle virtual assistant helped contestants get "instant gratification." Meanwhile, Lana told the cameras the purpose of including her clone in the show format:
"Before I can help my guests evolve into the best versions of themselves, I need to see them at their worst. That's why I have created Bad Lana, a machine-learning system, with a singular mission to encourage humans to succumb to their baser instincts. But even though there are no fines until I resume control, that does not mean that there won't be consequences."
This was a major twist in the competition because the players had no idea that if they took advantage of Bad Lana's control over the villa, they would have to face the consequences. As Lana already clarified, this won't have anything to do with the grand prize. Then what will it be?
The first two players to kiss were Bri and Chris. Bri also felt an attraction toward Demari. Meanwhile, Lucy and Katherine had an eye for the same guy, Charlie. Toward the end of the episode, a party thrown by Bad Lana is interrupted by Lana, and the latter announces that she has taken control over the retreat.
It was revealed that the grand prize for this season was the greatest in the show's history; it was a quarter of a million dollars. She also mentioned that Charlie and Bri were the biggest threat to her prize fund, so they were banished from the retreat. As they both pursued a physical connection with two people, they were sent to the banishment quarters.
