The Challenge 40 episode 12 premiered on November 6 on MTV and offered a "first taste of what a Final could look like."
The reality show released a deleted scene from the episode on their Facebook page on November 8, featuring a conversation between Johnny Bananas and Josh Martinez. The two contestants discussed that Tori Deal's decision had been heavily influenced by her friend Devin Walker.
Bananas expressed distrust toward Tori, saying her loyalty to Devin led her to neglect alliances with other contestants, adding that she and her friends seemed to be "under his spell."

The Challenge’s Johnny Bananas and Josh Martinez discuss Tori Deal's gameplay post Devin's elimination
In the deleted scene from The Challenge 40 episode 12, Johnny Bananas went over to Josh Martinez to discuss Tori Deal's recent actions and the ways she was moving forward after Devin's elimination.
Bananas told Martinez that he felt close to both him and Tori. However, he made it clear that if the two ever clashed, leading to a "falling out," and Tori asked him to target Josh, he would firmly refuse.
He added that their conflict wouldn’t be his problem, and he wouldn’t want to get involved.
"I'm really close with you [Josh]. I'm really close with Tori. If for some reason you guys had a f**king falling out. And you guys started going at it. If she left she's like 'hey take out Josh. I'm going to be like 'no'. What does that have to do with me? Its not [my fight] dude," Bananas told Martinez.
The Challenge 40 contestants hoped Tori would admit she made a mistake by taking ownership of Devin's issues when she didn’t need to.
Bananas believed this was why Tori had been acting the way she was on the show. He felt that their friendship had been lost amidst the chaos and questioned whether it had ever meant anything to her.
"I literally wish she'd just be like 'You know what? I f**ked up. I took ownership over Devin's issues when I shouldn't have' and that's what caused all this because that was the thing with Torres. I'm like, 'what's been lost in this whole thing is what about our friendship, dude? Does that mean nothing?' Bananas expressed.
Recalling all the challenges he did with Tori, Bananas claimed that she's never been someone he could ever really rely on. Martinez added that he shared the same concerns about Tori.
His biggest worry, he explained, was whether she would actually stand by him when the time came, despite her promises to do so.
"If her and I weren't really that close and then yeah I beefed with you guys. Friend of my friend is my friend. An enemy of my friend is my enemy," Bananas added.
Martinez believed that The Challenge 40 Era 3 had to stay true to what Devin wanted. While he understood her situation and where she was coming from, he believed that going against all of her friends to follow Devin's last command was messed up.
"Devin wanted. Right? So I get I get where she's coming from. Like she feels like okay I like the last thing that my friend asked of me was for me to do him the solid... against her other friend which is f**ked up. Even Devin to put all of us in that predicament. Bro he literally said either you with or you're against me," The Challenge 40 contestants told Bananas.
The Challenge season 40 episodes are released every Wednesday on MTV.
