Unsolved Mysteries Volume 4 episode 4 saw the investigation of Sigrid Stevenson's murder, which took place in 1977. The Volume, which was released on July 31, saw some pieces in the case coming back from the time the murder happened while others were newly discovered.

Detective Julia Caldwell was among the people who were revisiting the case in the 21st century, and she narrowed her search down to two prime suspects. One among them was a lighting technician working at the auditorium where Sigrid was murdered, while the other was a janitor who worked at the musical department, Sigrid's place of study.

Caldwell said that she could not have the files of the case, but would love to sit down with any detective who takes the case and point them in the right direction.

Who were the two last suspects of Unsolved Mysteries Volume 4 episode 4: Murder, Centre Stage?

Most of the suspects in Sigrid Stevenson's murder case were cleared because they passed the polygraph test. The murder that took place in 1977 is still a mystery because DNA testing didn't exist back then, and the case has been cold for a while.

Ewing Police Department Detective Julia Caldwell revisited the case and tried solving it now, some 40 years later. In Unsolved Mysteries episode 4, she said she was confident about the two suspects she had narrowed her search down to after extensive research.

The first one, she said, took care of lighting at the auditorium and used to work closely with the production responsible for performances there. She said she doubted him because Sigrid was found in a pitch-black theater, and if she was practicing her piano there, she had to be doing so with some lights on.

What made Detective Caldwell doubt the light man was the fact that the auditorium lights were tricky and needed expertise to even turn on their basic settings. She also noted that "his mood had changed drastically" during the time of the play, as described by a witness.

Scott Napolitana, a writer and researcher from the same college who got intrigued by the case in 2022, noted in the official statement that the lighting guy had said he didn't have the keys to the auditorium. But in reality, he had them. Dt. Caldwell pointed out that it was a lie and posed the question,

"Why are you lying about something like that?"

The second suspect Dt. Julia mentioned was a maintenance worker/ janitor. Scott explained they had keys to the building, which meant they knew Sigrid was sneaking into the buildings, and even sleeping in the Green Room.

This janitor was assigned to work in the music department, a place where Sigrid used to study. Dt. Caldwell also mentioned that he always used to let Sigrid in, even during the hours she wasn't supposed to be in there. She then revealed that this janitor's phone number and address were found among Sigrid's possessions after her death.

On Unsolved Mysteries, she added she had a relationship with him and that it was unknown if anything was intimate. Other people on campus also had seen them talking to each other, including some campus police officers. He was also known to go out of his way for her.

Dt. Caldwell added that the said janitor was fired from his position at Trenton State College because he was "going through some substance issues." He also went to some kind of "detox" program.

She concluded by saying that he did not undergo a polygraph test or investigated thoroughly according to the documents she was reviewing. This made her think he was a suspect alongside the light man.

Volume 4 of Unsolved Mysteries is available to stream on Netflix.
