"Using that as an excuse for his behavior" — Love Is Blind's Monica slams Stephen's drunk texting claim

Netflix's most popular dating show Love Is Blind returned with a lot of twists and turns, as the singles joined the experiment in the pods. The cast of the show attempted to find like-minded individuals who could be their life partners. The only catch being that the singles would only be able to interact with each other with a wall between them.

While many couples formed, some weren't able to survive throughout the testing journey. During Love Is Blind episode 8 aired on October 9, one such couple who came to blows was Monica and Stephen. The couple broke up after Monica found Stephen of allegedly sending text of "s*xual" nature to another woman.

The incident happened off-camera as a tearful Monica was seen confronting Stephen about the same. Stephen defended himself by claiming he drunkenly texted the other woman during a sleep test and apologized for his behavior.

In an October 10 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Monica explained that she did not believe what Stephen had to say because just before the sleep test, the two went on a date.

"It's not like he was drinking there without me. I know what he drank and what state of mind he was in when he went and we'd had a couple drinks that evening. I think that he was just using that as an excuse for his behavior," Monica said.

The Love Is Blind couple ultimately broke up because of the drunk text incident as Monica couldn't trust Stephen's words anymore. This prompted Stephen to pack his bags as whatever he was saying wouldn't make a difference. He later admitted to making a "completely stupid mistake".

Monica went on to accuse Stephen of cheating on her and lying to her about being on the sleep test itself. She later confirmed in the interview that Stephen sent her a photo of being tied in the bed for the test but also admitted that a lot of things went in her head at that moment, which prompted her to doubt everything Stephen was saying.

"I remember thinking in that conversation, when things were coming to a head, 'Is that even real? Maybe that's an old picture that you sent me to throw me off.' But I was able to verify, through the location and time and all that, that he was actually at a hospital center," Monica added.

Monica also revealed that after Love Is Blind, a lot of people have been asking her about what is a sleep test, which she found "hilarious." Stephen's sleep study tests were related to his disability and his time in the military.

She further said that Stephen had a history with the woman he was texting with during that time, which made it hard to believe that it was a "one-time thing." Thanking her stars, she expressed that the universe helped her during that moment as the truth came out early on in their relationship.

Monica added that Stephen's previous comments on Love Is Blind were also concerning to her, which she pointed out to him throughout her journey. During the honeymoon phase, Stephen refused to join her to watch the fireworks which made Monica upset. While she expressed her concerns, Stephen defended himself that he was talking to someone else.

He later joined Monica, who was talking to Taylor about the situation. Stephen nonchalantly stated that a "bunch of women" would slide into his DMs in a year. This made Monica uncomfortable and she made an excuse of wanting to get some French fries.
