Alanna Gold from Selling Sunset season 8 told her fellow Oppenheim group members that she owns a little Western town in the desert, Pioneertown. Following this claim, the residents of Pioneertown requested an apology from Alanna, citing that she only owes a minority interest, not the whole town as she claimed in the show. In episode 2 of Selling Sunset, Alanna told Bre during the Broker's Open House organized by Mary and Chelsea, that she owes a town named Pionerrtown and called herself Sheriff' of the town.

Jason and Brett Oppenheim from Selling Sunset joked about buying the town from her to which her response was, "You can't have it. It is ours." Alanna also invited the girls for a short trip to her place in Pioneertown in episode 5 of Selling Sunset. Mary and Nicole discussed what it exactly meant to own a town. They were curious to know whether she owned a strip of it or the whole town.

The Pioneertown Gazette is the local newspaper of California’s San Bernardino County, where Pioneertown is situated. The newspaper took to its Instagram, two days ago to call out Alanna Gold's claim of owning the town and posted:

"Mrs. Gold has a small minority non-controlling interest in an entity that owns six of 35 parcels in the Mane Street area, constituting less than 1% of Pioneertown’s total 640 acres. The claim that she owns the ‘entire town’ is verifiably false."

What is Pioneertown and why do the residents want an apology from Selling Sunset star, Alanna Gold?

Pioneertown falls towards the western High Desert in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The town is not governed by the local municipal corporation and was created in 1946 by actor Dick Curtis as a cultural site for filming western movies and television shows. The Mane Street area of town is honored with a place on the National Register of Historic Places.

The town is privately owned by 100 independent parties and has over 400 residents as cited by Pioneertown Gazette. As the town is not owned by an entity fully, the people of Pioneertown took offense when Alanna Gold stated that she owes Pionertwon in Seling Sunset season 8.

The Pioneer Gazette asked for an apology from Alanna and argued:

"The baseless claims by Selling Sunset’s Alanna Gold that she ‘owns Pioneertown’ undermine 78 years of internationally celebrated film, arts and cultural history. These claims belittle generations of artists, neighbors, nature lovers, community members, musicians, small business owners and otherwise magnificent people of Pioneertown.”

According to TODAY.com, Alanna Gold apologized to the residents of Pioneertown and the representatives of the town shared the apology message with TODAY.com, as mentioned in the article published on September 11. As per the article, her apology stated:

"I want to reach out to personally say I am so deeply sorry for the confusion I have caused. I certainly do not own Pioneertown, I never should have said that and I apologize for doing so."

She further added:

"We are contacting any and all reporters to make sure they update their stories and correct the record. Again, I am so sorry to the people of Pioneertown, I would never want to disrespect the town’s history or any of the people who make it such a wonderful place.”

The post by Pioneertown Gazette, which asked for an apology, added an acknowledgment that Alanna Gold extended her sincere apology to the people of the town. The update reads:

"The Pioneertown Gazette and other key fixtures in the community have received apologies from Alanna Gold and her team. We sincerely appreciate the acknowledgement."

Selling Sunset season 8 premiered on September 6 and is streaming on Netflix now.
