Netflix's Love Is Blind season 7 premiered on October 2, 2024, and saw two couples get married by the end of it. The streaming giant released the reunion episode on October 30, 2024, which featured couples who were able to get together and also the ones who didn't make it to the altar.
To the disappointment of many Love Is Blind fans, Marissa and Ramses fall into the latter category. The couple remained strong despite the trials and tribulations that came throughout their journey until the finale when Ramses declared that he would not be able to handle Marissa in the future. They bid an emotional farewell to each other when Marissa threw the engagement ring on the floor.
In the reunion episode, the hosts, Nick and Vanessa Lachey addressed the situation with Marissa and Ramses. When asked about their feelings regarding watching the breakup scene and reliving the moment, Ramses expressed that it was difficult to watch her ex-partner be emotional in those moments he missed in real life but could see in the show.
"I had to pause several times 'cause I hadn't seen her reaction once she was alone in her interviews. Just seeing how she was falling apart was very difficult to watch back," stated Ramses.
Ramses felt a space between him and Marissa during his time on Love Is Blind
Ramses was also asked by the hosts of the Love Is Blind reunion about the reasons he decided not to go further with Marissa. The reality star explained that although everything was good at the start, he realized there was a space between them after reaching the latter stages of the relationship.
"I basically started to realize how far of a space there was in our energy, and how there wasn't that balance that I sort of felt in the pods," claimed Ramses.
Marissa's mother, Vanessa, was also present in the audience and she recalled the night Ramses called off the wedding. Vanessa revealed that despite wanting to "punch him in the throat," she went up to him to know the reasoning behind his decision.
Thankful that Ramses called off the wedding, Vanessa expressed that her daughter's happiness is what matters to her the most.
She further expressed that it would have been better if Ramses had told Marissa about the doubts he was having in his mind earlier so that she would have prepared for it accordingly.
Since Ramses waited till only days before the wedding, Vanessa felt that he broke Marissa emotionally and she had to pick her up and tell her to move on with her life.
Marissa also chimed in and felt she didn't have a say in their breakup on Love Is Blind. She didn't feel there was a partnership between her and Ramses because he didn't seek to clear out any misunderstandings and grow in their relationship.
Ramses accepted his fault for not being forthcoming about his feelings and revealed that he regretted it after watching the show.
Later, Ramses also sought to clarify his viewpoints on contraception. During the show, Ramses mentioned that he wasn't a fan of protection and suggested Marissa used contraception which created a lot of controversy amongst the fans online. He clarified that it was just his personal viewpoint and not an ultimatum to Marissa.
"I'm well aware of the effects it has on a woman's body, and so I would never try to force that upon her," explained Ramses.
He further stated that the former Love Is Blind couple had multiple conversations about the topic and settled on a solution that suited both of their needs.
