Netflix's long-awaited dating reality show Single's Inferno released season 4 on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, featuring a diverse lineup of hopeful singles, each wishing to leave the experiment with a fairytale ending. Among them was Yuk Jun-seo, who selected Chung You-jin for a date in Paradise in the series' first episode after locking eyes with her.
Episode 1 saw the male and female participants introduce themselves, highlighting their personality traits and qualities, while stranded on separate islands. After the initial introductions, the men were challenged to a game, whose winner and runner-up would get the chance to head to Paradise with their chosen women.
Jun-seo outperformed the others, taking You-jin for a memorable stay in Paradise. During their date, the Single's Inferno cast member confessed that he "chose well" by deciding to bring You-jin. While explaining what sparked his interest, he said:
"But then we kept making eye contact. So I chose you. You flashed a smile every time our eyes met. That really made an impression on me."
The Single's Inferno couple enjoyed a romantic dinner and later got to know each other even better while swimming in a private pool. Meanwhile, the game's runner-up Kim Jeong-su decided to go to Paradise with Lee Si-an, a 25-year-old model.
"His scary gaze truly struck me" — Single's Inferno star You-jin reveals her first impression of Jun-seo
While introducing himself, Jun-seo revealed he was confident about his physicality since he was a former UDT soldier and exercised daily. He believed he had a "stoic" outer appearance but often became "sloppy," which was why people often called him "adorable." When he arrived at the women's camp to announce his choice, he stood silently for several seconds before selecting You-jin.
Jun-seo's silence unsettled the panelists as well as the female Single's Inferno participants. He cracked a smile only after You-jin made eye contact with him. While speaking to the cameras, she said:
"All I remember was his gaze when he was just standing there looking at all of us for ages. His scary gaze truly struck me but after he smiled once, I sensed that he definitely had a softer side."
During their date, Jun-seo told You-jin that he stood silently because the process overwhelmed him. Although the 28-year-old star felt a "little bit confused," he knew You-jin was the right choice for him after seeing her smile at him.
Soon after, the pair revealed their age and profession and discussed their hobbies and interests. Jun-seo wished he was older when You-jin revealed she was also 28.
"But you're so calm and collected. You seem very mature. That's the reason I thought you must be older than me," You-jin said.
Thereafter, the Single's Inferno contestants agreed to drop the honorifics and converse casually.
As their conversation progressed, Jun-seo revealed he drew for a living, focusing mostly on two-dimensional drawings. Although he did not study art, he gradually developed a knack for the craft. You-jin was impressed by her partner's interest in the field of art since she belonged to the same field.
You-jin stated she was a dancer, surprising Jun-seo who guessed she was an actor.
"I graduated from the dance department at Ewha Woman's University and I'm currently studying for a master's degree," You-jin added.
Although she primarily focused on Korean traditional dance, she also learned contemporary styles. Besides being a member of a dance company, You-jin also gave dance lessons to people of different age groups. Upon hearing that, Jun-seo confessed he was glad they met since they shared common interests.
After a while, You-jin told Jun-seo that his personality differed from her expectations. He had a "witty" nature, unlike the quiet and reserved personality she had expected him to have. The Single's Inferno star also complimented his smile, saying it looked "pure."
When Jun-seo shyly asked You-jin to detail her "type," she said she preferred "straightforward" men. Upon hearing that, he said:
"Then I'll keep being me."
The couple concluded their day in Paradise swimming in a private pool. They hoped they could return with each other and continue exploring their connection.
