Married to Medicine, Bravo's reality series that highlights the professional and personal lives of Atlanta-based women in the medical field, aired its latest episode on Sunday, January 26. Season 11 episode 9 delivered a mix of lighthearted romance and serious discussions as the cast members navigated pivotal moments in their lives.

Among the standout moments was Phaedra Parks reflecting on her growing connection with Cheick, a man she met during a speed-dating event. The episode also showcased Dr. Jackie Walters, Dr. Heavenly Kimes, and Dr. Simone Whitmore attending an exclusive event at the White House.

Phaedra, who has been candid about her single life and contentment, shared her thoughts on her budding romance.

"I obviously like Shaq. And that's what I'm looking for, is someone who wants to have fun, and he makes me happy. So we'll see what happens," she said during a confessional.

Phaedra’s date with Cheick in Married to Medicine

The Married to Medicine episode captured the moment between Phaedra Parks and Cheick, a French-African man she met at Sweet Tea's speed-dating event. The date began with Cheick surprising Phaedra with flowers, a gesture that resonated with her. She said:

"I love flowers. Yes. Oh, my God. How sweet of you. Yeah. You know, gifts is my love language,"

The two bonded over lunch, exchanging stories about their backgrounds. Cheick, who grew up in Paris, inquired about Phaedra’s roots. She mentioned:

"I grew up in a small town, Athens, right outside of Atlanta," and shared her career as a lawyer and mortician.

The conversation took a playful turn when Cheick complimented her charm. "You're pretty juicy, though," he teased, prompting Phaedra to quip, "A piece of juicy fruit."

However, the lighthearted conversation in Married to Medicine briefly turned serious when Cheick mentioned knowing Phaedra's ex-husband, Apollo Nida. Phaedra took the revelation in stride, stating:

"A lot of people know him. He's a man about town."

She expressed no concern about the connection, noting that Apollo is married and has fully moved on, so it doesn't pose any issue for her.

Despite her openness to dating, Phaedra made it clear she has no plans to remarry.

"I don't ever want to be married again. I'm very happy, single, and satisfied."

What else happened in the episode?

In addition to Phaedra's date, the Married to Medicine episode featured a significant moment between Dr. Jackie Walters and Dr. Heavenly Kimes. Jackie shared exciting news about being invited to the White House for a conference.

"I got an invite to the White House of the United States of America."

Jackie told Heavenly, who was equally thrilled at the opportunity. After some playful banter, Jackie confirmed she would bring Heavenly as her second guest alongside Dr. Simone Whitmore.

Heavenly, initially skeptical, asked, "Jackie, are you for real? Don't play me," but eventually expressed her excitement:

"I've seen the White House. I've never been inside. That is an experience of a lifetime, Jackie."

Later in the Married to Medicine episode, Dr. Jackie Walters, Dr. Heavenly Kimes, and Dr. Simone Whitmore attended a Reproductive Freedom Conference at the White House.

Jackie, who received the prestigious invite, was thrilled to bring Simone and Heavenly to the historic event. As they entered the White House, the women marveled at the opportunity.

Jackie shared during a confessional in Married to Medicine:

"50, 60 years ago, the only black people in the White House were servants. Today, we are some black women going to the White House to meet with a black woman who is the Vice President of the United States of America."

The seminar featured former Vice President Harris addressing critical issues, including the implications of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade. Harris stressed the importance of reproductive freedom and voting rights, saying:

"The highest court in our land took a constitutional right that had been recognized from the people of America. We are in the midst of a movement... and we are the ones who have now been handed the baton in this movement to move it forward."

Simone and Heavenly shared their perspectives on how the decision has impacted their medical practices.

"I have seen firsthand that a woman may be carrying a fetus that has multiple defects, multiple anomalies, and she cannot terminate that pregnancy."

After the seminar, the women had the chance to meet Vice President Harris, who expressed gratitude for their work. Jackie, visibly emotional, described the encounter as a dream come true.

After the seminar was over, Jackie got the opportunity to meet the former Vice President, and she confessed,

"Peter Patter, boom, boom, boom, my heart was beating. I need to dream bigger because today, my dreams were taken to the top, honey,"
